Forgive my ignorance on this subject, but I haven't yet gotten started on model building and wanted to make sure I had the correct materials for what I wanted to do. I'm looking for a sturdy but at least slightly portable material for a Mayhem-type map. As I was looking over the forums here I noticed several references to the use of foamcore, which I admit would obviously make a solid base as well as good walls and such. The question I have is, knowing that foamcore won't go through a printer, how do you apply the textures for the asphalt/concrete or walls? Do you just glue the cardstock to the foamcore? I know that's a noob question but I guess everybody has to start somewhere.

That's one way, certainly. Here are the ways I've seen the most:

* Print onto cardstock, and glue to foamcore.
* Print onto a piece of paper, and glue to foamcore.
* Print onto labels, and stick to foamcore.

I usually print to cardstock and glue to foamcore, so that the prints have the same consistency and durability as all the other pieces. (The exception are mounting templates - which don't ever show - and those I print to labels, for ease.) For Mayhem tiles, I used cardstock.

There are various ways to do the gluing, too. Whenever I glue a mass at once (like Mayhem street tiles), I use spray adhesive. Either spray down the back of the cardstock and apply to foamcore, or simply spray down the foamcore, and apply cardstock. Ultra fast, and bonds well.

You have definitely come to the best site for textured terrain. When using cardstock, you don't really even need to mount the walls on foamcore. Check out the tutorials at the link below for some more answers. If you are having any trouble, come back to the forums for clarifications. Also, look through the forums to gain some inspiration as the sets that WWG offers are amazing and have excellent value and diversity.

One thing to keep in mind, and I believe this is valid, builing TLX sets when using the default modular tiles (floors) option requires cardstock to be glued to the foamboard because it wraps around the foamboard and forms a stabilizing structure required for the interlocking of tiles.
