I'm resurrecting this thread to post what I just tried. It was sort of an expirement but it seemed to work out okay. For free-standing ruined walls, I took some old DungeonWorks printings and some styrofoam bits I had lying about and cobbled a few of these together. (Figure for scale)




Basically, I cut the foam with a hot wire cutter into 2" high rectangles and made the ends irregular. Then I painted the edges of the foam a madium-dark grey. I cut out the rectangular parts of the DW walls and traced the foam outline onto the back of the cardstock and cut along the line. I edged dark and glued the cardstock onto both sides.

They stand up fine by themselves, but I'll probably base these for more stability. I plan to use these for a battle at a ruined coaching inn (based on the old WHFRP floor plan ).

I did a ruined tower section using a CWU complex tower. I just built the first floor and cut away the portions of the wall that gave a pleasing shape to the ruin. Then I just went in with a Sharpie to add jags and black stains to the edges and to give the impression of missing or jumbled stones. I'll try to post a shot of it in the next few days. It was very easy to do and gives a great look.
