I feel accomplished and ready to get my next review going. This is the most exciting part of the review process (the completion of one set and the beginning of another.) Also, the process of revealing my thoughts and pics to everyone for critique is always nail-biting.

Congrats on the build! It looks fantastic.

If you don't mind a recommendation though: after my Maiden build I noticed the railings were very loose and didn't look like they would stay together after a long time. To combat that I doubled the railing on each side (I printed out another set of the walls with railings, cut off just the railing section and a part of the wall and glued it on the existing railing). For extra sturdiness I put a piece of transparency paper in between the railing which gave it the extra strength of a solid piece of see through paper.

The extra layer on the railing looks really good - the added depth enhances the effect.

Plus you've done a superb job on the edging. What pens/colors did you use?

I love both Ghost Maiden and the whimsy of the sails on the second build. Its really gratifying seeing people get into the Maiden.

Heh, my one suggestion - get some glow in the dark paint, and add some 'highlights'. Instant ghost ship, as soon as the lights go out....

The Auld Grump

Thanks Denny and Zenguy, it took a while. If you actually look in the first picture you can see that I installed LED lights in the ship so you can see that the windows were replaced with transparency paper... what can I say I'm a huge nerd

To answer your question Zenguy: I used crayola but I edged in more colors then the standard black, brown and gray. I used a lot of orange, especially for the railings because the tops tended to be really white. I also used some yellow for the sails and some parts of the floors.

It's funny that you mention the edging job cause looking back at the pictures I want to get in there and re-edge some pieces.

I guess to mention the last of the refinements: I doubled up the prow of the ship (both the lower and the upper) because they had a tendency to bend. I also can't recommend enough to completely color the bottom of the upper prow, from many angles you'll see the white and coloring the whole thing brown or black is just a good idea. I also put weak magnets on the bottom of the ratlines to hold them in place. The lights and the sails were the last of my modifications... I ended up getting it signed by Wil Wheaton, Jerry Holkins, Mike Krahuluk and Scott Kurtz!

You mean you're good people I actually toyed with LED's for the Maiden myself, I really wanted to see some light emanating from the captains quarters. Awesome to know someone went the full distance!

I'd try those little candle lights they make for pumpkins.

Too big and not bright enough, I did a lot of searching before I found a box that you could put rechargeable AA batteries in that was just bright enough and had the right color light. I can try to find the place I bought it from if people are interested.
