Is it harmful for a laser printer to print many pages successively? I want to know if it is harmful for a laser printer to print many pages (say 30 A4 size pages) successively. During the process the internal parts become very hot and I am afraid taking so many printouts at a time may heat up the internal parts of the printer too much and the printer may be damaged quickly. My printer is new and the manual doesnot say anything in this regard. Can anybody clear my doubt?

For the most part Laser printers are designed to handle high volumes of prints. In my own experience they actually work more consistently (in terms of print quality) when you do a large run.

So I would say print away and if for some reason your printer stops working TAKE IT BACK! It should by any normal measure be able to handle a 30 page run.

Laser printers are designed to get hot, that's how it melts the toner and adheres it to the page. If you noticed, Toner is a powder that's not very sticky, I forget where the laser comes in, but basically, if your laser printer isn't getting hot, then it's not working.

The important thing, though, is to make sure it has adequate room around it for the heat to dissipate normally, instead of building up in the machine. If something prevents air from flowing in and around your laser printer, that heat will build up and then it will cause damage.

So make sure you've placed the laser printer in an open area, or at least that the vents on the machine are not blocked. Since your printer is new you don't have to worry about dust build up quite yet, but in a year or so you'll want to vacuum those vents to suck up the dust that accumulates in the printer's heat sinks.
