Looks cool, but I'd worry about ink+sweat leaving me with a dyed forehead. This one might require a laser printer.

The backside is just card though I suppose where the print begins you could glue a strip of foam or something to brace against your forehead.

very nice. If I do the costume thing this year, I'll have to attach a little tray of dry ice to the inside top, and some shielded, muted red LEDs to shine down and cloak my eyes in blood-tinged shadow...

After launching the Lightning Gun, talking about FORGE and our plans for expansion into weapons and armour...well, that's just the way our teeny-tiny industry works I suppose. I does make it more difficult to discuss what we have in development more openly, which is a bummer, but that's kinda just the way it has always been.

Its all win-win for you guys though

I should add a caveat there as to not be taken out of context. Our industry is a small one and in some cases for whatever reason it seems to flow on parallel tangents. Its just kind of a fact of life like any competitive industry.

This mask is fantastic!!!
When you say you are making weapons and armor, do you mean you are making full size medieval style weapons and armor?!?! My son is going to freak out!! I can't find your announcement, though. Could someone post a link to it?

For the record, as I understand it, FDG's Great Helm was requested by and designed for a group of gamers in Kentucky called KFG (Kentucky Fried Gamers). There's no connection that I'm aware of to what WWG is doing. The timing of the release has to do with Halloween. In any case, Tom has made clear that he will not be making any wearable weapons or armor beyond these helmets.

I really like the idea of the life size stuff. I can't wait to build this one.

I do have a lot of trepidation about ones made to be wearable though. Just so easy for them to be damaged. So most likely mine will stay on the wall.

That's one of the things I love about buying PDF cardstock products. If it breaks I can always print and make another one.

Sure thing Afet, you can find the discussion regarding FORGE within the Lightning Gun thread: http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/vi ... php?t=8759 . Its mentioned a few times, in a number of ways, responding to various comments "1:1 scale weapons/Armour...yadda, yadda" so you'll have to dig through it yourself I'm afraid.

FORGE is dedicated to special projects that create 1:1 scale props for display or for costuming (all genres). Our project with Tracy Hickman was the perfect excuse to launch it and test it out. FORGE is about 2 years in the making, in fact there's still a half completed battleaxe kicking around from back in the day when Damon was taking a shot at things. Chris from Ebbles also did a great dagger model for me when we were playing with the early concept. I'll have to dig those things back up.

How far it goes will depend entirely upon the response we get from the next few releases. Terrain isn't taking a back seat to this, so I'm not sure at this point just how heavy the release cycle will be with FORGE. We also have to consider TerraClips release and subsequent follow-up releases within the schedule. Busy times ahead!

I'm having great fun with it though

Hey guys and gals, just to clear things up a bit, one of the other heads of the KFG requested that Tom at FDG to do a full size Helm for us at Gen Con this year. He had no prior knowledge of anything that WWG has announced or done, for that matter neither did I when I asked Tom if he would do it for us. This is in no way someone trying to copy someone, it's just people thinking along the same lines about something they want to see done. I even asked Tom about doing a shield and full suit of armor as well, so if he does one great, Denny can do one as well. The more stuff that Tom & Denny do the better for us. They have completely different styles so that means we get to have a greater variety of products to choose from.

Your helm is awesome looking Denny and I would love to sit one of yours on the shelf right next to Toms and i can't wait to see what the two of you come up with for armor, weapons & shields.

Just out of curiosity Denny, is there a backstory to this piece? I'm interested in the handprint - perhaps a magic-wielding foe attempted a last-ditch touch spell and scored the metal? Or maybe it's the mark from when the Warlock King defeated a flaming Ifrit in hand-to-hand combat...

A token of power painted on by a tribe of warriors in recognition of the King's strength?

The magic world for that one is foamy (I bought the other day a few of them to build "another thing") and it is fantastic...it adapt, you can paste over the paper without problem...and in contact with your face is ... well good !

Hope is out soon and can show photos of what I'm speaking about when build !

downloading...downloading... the real problem is that I've an special Halloween adventure (Last rites of the black guard for Savage worlds, will se how it goes at it's the first "terror" one I run for more than 20 years as Master) so I've no time to build...but printed and this weekend I'll do it !
