This may be a dumb question, but couldn't you just glue the TLX tabs to the floor tiles so that you could use TLX walls, Thoumonts, etc. with the Terraclips terrain?

Demand for TerraClips is extremely high but at this stage everyone is waiting for the product to clear final manufacturing. Originally TerraClips was expected to release in August, unfortunately manufacturing issues slowed the whole process down.

I think its safe to say that we've all settled into a quality first mode at this point. Making sure that everything is up to our standards is priority #1.

I'm sure you're already painfully aware of the fact, but the Holiday shopping rush is a little over a month away. It would be great if I could put a few TC items on my in-law wish list...

We're obviously doing our best to make that happen. No one wants to miss out on the Christmas rush. We're smacking down challenges as they pop up.

Hey dudes no news on these in almost a month wanted to see if i can scalp an update, been lurking in the thread once a week since GanCon and am hanging for the release.

count me in for another "hey give us some news" request. things are getting so desperate that i just recently bought some DnD dungeon tiles.

I have a couple of them and can't actually convince myself to use them. WWG stuff is just a million times better...especially than the feeble 3D terrain attempt they recently did.

Back on topic, I am hopeful that the new site will hit shortly and we will get a new update on everything. Also, I would venture a guess that Denny and Co. are scrambling to get this out the door for a pre-holiday release.

Black Friday is 3 weeks away, so if they don't have good product in hand right now I doubt they'll have anything by then at retail. I'm personally waiting primarily for the clips themselves - I plan to print my own non-Malifaux WWG sets, but I'd like to test out a small batch with the clips to make sure they'll work before investing in several 25-packs of chipboard.

EDIT: Are those new promo pics on the front page? The clips seem a lot less obvious than in the pics from Gencon but I can't remember if that's what they looked like before...

We're still doing the back and forth with manufacturing but largely its all very positive stuff. December isn't necessarily out yet but we'll be sure to let you know once we've accomplished a few goals before then.

In terms of the clips; we plan on shooting a new round of promos with our revised clips once we have a big enough batch in-hand. We've been working with the manufacturer since GenCon and solid visual improvements have been made.

I'm sitting on a pre-paid pre-order for one of each set. I'm hoping that after this amount of time has passed that I don't get shafted.

I'm sure this has been a fantastic learning event for both WWG and Wyrd.

Smooth is relative I guess when confronting retail goods. There is a steep learning curve but that applies to the factory just as much as it does us. It takes a lot of back-and-forth so that everyone has a clear understanding of how things are suppose to work. Add to that mix a healthy dose of cultural as well as language barrier issues.

Although this has extended beyond our original estimates, it is nothing but good news in terms of the quality of the end product. That includes some important upgrades which make things that much better. We've stood our ground on quality and I think it will pay off.

On this issue I have no doubt. By all accounts the product showing at Gencon was incredibly impressive and, given the reputation and track record of both WWG and Wyrd, I'm certain the end product will be just as advertised. Whether this holiday season or early next year I'm looking forward to unboxing this product after it rolls off the assembly line.

Actually the WOTC tiles are quite annoying. I think its because they are so light and insubstantial. You couldn't move them around like mini chunk, and I suspect that most players will want something more substantial.

Even buying the WWG sets JUST for the ground tiles makes more sense.

Always stick to quality.


It could be worse...

A local game developer here put out several best sellers in Toys R Us.. The games went straight from the factory to the the distributors.

Then he didn't get paid. The distributors\stores held the product for 6 months.

THEN he got all the games back with a cheque for the ones that sold.

Its called a cash crunch, accompanied with a question to the wife, "How big is the garage?"

While I obviously don't have any product in hand, I would expect that the WWG tiles will have about the same weight to them as Dungeon Tiles. They're both produced from 1.5mm chipboard, both have high quality finishes, etc. The primary benefit of TCX (again, based on press releases and pictures) are the clips and the quality. DT have always looked like somebody spent 5 minutes in photoshop, WWG's textures always look very professional.

One small exception to the generalization on DT quality would be the game day map for Trouble in Freesboro. From what I've heard and seen these were actually done by somebody who put some serious work into making it look good rather than slapping down a few DT graphics and printing.

While I would assume that each company with be about the same in terms of weight, The clips should add a level of cohesiveness that DT doesn't offer. Also, the textures alone are amazingly better than DT...but that almost seems silly to write since it is so obvious.

Also, Wizards always seems to give off the feel of "Gotta Catch 'em All" and makes me hesitant to buy their products (and I say that as a D&D 4e player and DM).

Agree on all accounts. I play 4e simply because that's what my group plays - I don't have any particular attachment to it as a system or a business model. I'm into GW because it's a much more "hands-off" system than D&D proper. Much more seems to be left up to the GM, and I like that.
I'm really very anxious to try out the clips - even if you just wanted to do a flat layout it seems like they would help with the sudden earthquake/roving battlefield problems common with lightweight tiles. Instead I imagine it being more like a floating floor - individually the pieces are still very mobile, but once you get 4-5 in place it's pretty solid. I've been delaying my attempts at building out some TLX tiles on chipboard simply so that I can buy up tons of clips at the same time. I have 50 6x6 and 50 4x6 pieces of 1.45mm chipboard on their way so I'm pretty confident I've got the other raw materials necessary for the non-TCX sets (Cliffs & Forests and Titan especially).

Hmm, I never thought of buying the sets just for the ground tiles. I keep hoping we can get the TLX precut ones.

Wouldn't it be nice if they just packaged a ground tile Clip set, at a lower price???

More likely would probably be a set the same size but with only flat connectors. Even that is pretty unlikely - it's another SKU for the product chain for a fairly small audience.

At the risk of sounding like I'm asking a really stupid question, I am going to go out on a limb and ask (maybe someone from WWG will even be able to answer.)

Would a 1 3/4" by 1 3/4" by 1 3/4" staircase fit with TerraClips? Is TerraClips roughly same scale as TLX buildings?

I am asking because I have found a nice model staircase (stops at a platform then turns back on itself) which would be great in TerraClips buildings - if it fits.

Any chance of getting the height of a TerraClips building storey?

All walls in TerraClips are 2" high so your staircase should fit great! That said, there are stairs included with every release

I'm coping with the wait for TCX by stocking up on furniture and interior dressing stuff, so by the time I get my hands on the building sets I'll be ready to rock.

(I got the staircase, for the sake of variety and in anticipation of the critical eye of my children. )

Thanks for the patience gang. The extra time we've dedicated to ensuring factory-side quality is really paying off on this end. The ambiguity over release date really comes down to how we slot into the manufacturers timeline, now that we've addressed things. We're all hopeful that we can start sharing the fruits of our labor with you soon.
