A few weeks ago one of the players in my Star Wars RPG was talking about the D&D game he is DMing and he wanted a "Ship", I mentioned the Maiden to him and as things went along i offered to build him a copy of the Maiden as an Airship, this was done in part for me to get to know the Maiden again so I can work on the Sail barge version (which i am working on now).

I was going to go with a "blimp" version even got to the point of designing the airbag for the ship, but then this post caught my eye, and this picture



I admit I thought it looked cool, so forwarded the link to Chris (HI chris) and he liked it too. So with that in mind made a few changes to the build and went back to a very Stock Maiden, with just a few twists.

This is a pretty stock Maiden build, I am of the mind set if I can reuse a part in a set for a differnt thing or from another set I will use it instead of making one. So there are some re-used parts in this but well it's mainly a Maiden with a few add ons.

You will note that the ship is missing the propellers, as well the Store we play at has a HUGE RC section and we can pick up the 7 props for this for a few bucks, so it will have REAL propellers attached.

There will be four on the sides for forward movement/turning, and Three on the masts like a copter.

So here it is, almost finished, it would be finished tonight if it weren't for ANOTHER snow storm here in the NE...

Ok, Here are some shots of this girl in game more than a year after her creation.

Ok here is some info on the ship.

I am running a Deadlands Classic game., we joking around one day about having big sailing ships on the prairie, and we seemd to remember one from some cartoon show from the 80's and some one saw this thing...

but as they were talking, I remembered I had all of these Black Scorpion Pirate Minis i had bought for something else, and now had no use for them, so ideas started to bubble around in my head till I decided to have a group of Sky Raiders running around causing havoc.

Deadlands already has big blimps in them so I decided to convert this Maiden back to a Blimp (which was just taking out the masts with the propellers).

The Idea is this ship has a Big gas bag above it so it is partly pushed around by the wind, (like a hot air balloon) off of the air bag, but the props allow for more maneuverability and if the wind is light enough or the air is still , to go against the airflow or where it wants.

There are big Ghost rock boilers that power the props, and use the Hot Ghost Rock vapor to fill the bag and provide lift (and flammability).

So there is a bag (still getting fine touches to it as it is a kit bash I have been working on, and stacks that will come out of the mast holes.
