Just a place for possible rules that might be used with Urban Mayhem.

First the obvious ones - which features terrain by World Works. The quick start rules are now available for download from their web site, so check 'em out!

the Living Rulebook contains all the rules for free, so now is a good time to try the game.

the figures were once a product of Grenadier, now available from Mark Copplestown, the sculptor for the line. These figures look like the best fit for the terrain. A war game of the same name is available or you can use the original rules system for the miniatures, now available free.

And if you are willing to dig through free wargames, both good and bad, looking for one that's right for you has a bunch of games, with Modern and Science Fiction the best chances for a match.

On the RPG side of things by Alderac Entertainment is approaching a new edition, and is a good set of rules for spy games in the modern, post modern, and near future world.

by WotC needs no introduction, but the somewhat cheaper, and compatible fills the niche. No illustrations, small print, but my preferred format for the rules, a compact volume that will fit in a jacket pocket.

by Sword & Sorcery is another good fit for the terrain. For a while the rules were available free on Drivethrurpg.com, and I suspect that, like Exalted, they will be again. So keep your eyes open for it.

by RPGObjects is a slightly darker game than Gamma World but another post apocolyptic game. The first edition goes for $1 as a download at RPGNow.com - the newer edition is currently sold out in print, but goes for $10 as a PDF at RPGNow.

Hell on Earth, by Pinnacle Entertainment, is a modern sequel to Dead Lands is available as a PDF at RPGNow as both the regular and D20 versions. Around $10 pardner.

The for Savage Worlds is also set in the Wasted West of Hell on Earth.

So, what games have I missed in the quick rundown of possibilities?

The Auld Grump

One specific Savage Tale (for Savage Worlds) comes to mind: Zombie Run. A run across the US, and SoM will do well for quite a bit of the Tale. Find it here: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php? ... s_id=2648&

Necessary Evil (a campaign book for Savage Worlds) could also use SoM, although it will be a better fit when we get buildings as well.



Not RPG, but ...

Mel's Firebase Maginot looks like it will be a great match with SoM. After I put together some of SoM, I'm going to prove that out, but they look like really synergistic products. Even with the different texturing styles?

Denny favors an intricately photorealistic style for his textures, while I go for a somewhat stylized, lighting-independent, and "painted" aesthetic to match the look and feel of gaming figures. I haven't really sat down and compared both of our texturing styles side by side yet, but it seems to me that Maginot components might look a little out of place next to the photorealistic elements in SoM. Maginot's also one of my oldest scenery sets, and looks a bit dated compared to my latest work.

Just making sure I point that out before anyone goes stampeding to my shop and finds that out the hard way.

One of the (many) reasons I support guys like Denny and Mel: given with a plug, Mel points out the possible reasons NOT to spend money at his store, to make doubly sure you're happy.


There is a small texture clash, and the Maginot buildings are 3" based, compared to the 7" Mayhem tiles, but if you're looking for a higher tech, military style building set to go with SoM, they do mesh well. I can actually see using some of the square Maginot pieces as skyscraper type buildings.

As for Maginot being old; some things old are still quite good (witness: Village Works). Maginot has held up well, and is my favorite of your _currently_ released products.

Hmmmmm.... speaking of VillageWorks, I wonder how some of those buildings would look with SoM. Could be interesting....

Well I'm a bit of a bookworm in the rpg aspect (I have more rpg-rules than some of the shop's here in spain...a remembering of my 80...when I bought wathever strange book came out)...my 2 cents..

Feng Shui...that fight's in aleys, dark streets...you will need but more props to trown (garbage, cans...)

Of Course Savage Worlds (I bought recently zombies run...I was thinking all the encounters visualizing them in WWG-miniature ), hihgly recomendable

Then you could use all the Shadowrun-Cybepunk-Cybernet (The ICE version of the Cpunk era)...

Adventure from WW...It's a bit dificult to think of it like a 1930 street...(I don't know why...but it didn't seem old...)...or Gurps Cliffhangers...or any other modern....

Well a lot of others are set in modern times (a lot of Terror ones, but usually I also don't see Chill/Witchcraft/CotC or other played with miniatures and WWG...)

P.S. I hope to run a Gangster/pulp miniature fight (using SW) and in the future...when I had time for paint a Soldier/zombie...yes...when I'm able to run that Denny will have given to us Citys, cars...everything you need...

Green Ronin's an OGL superheroes game using a 20 sided die... but not quite the D20 system.

Aberrant by White Wolf, now available as a D20 supplement, though there was a Storyteller based one as well.

Silver Age Sentinels - it never really thrilled me, but there are multiple versions available, including D20.

Big Eyes, Small Mouth, ditto.

GURPS... I don't like it much, but that has more to do with some local players than the rules. (One lof the locals [i]pulled a D&D starter game out of a kid's hands![i], And then tried to get him to buy GURPS instead... the kid walked out without buying anything. The local GURPS players are like the RPG poster children... along the lines of 'This Could Happen to You!' Greasy hair, overweight, bearded, like six copies of the Comic Book guy from the Simpsons, only with more hair,,, *Shudder!*

Sorry about that, I ran into one of them on Saturday, who wanted to join my OGL Steampunk game, and then tried to get me to switch to GURPS... Needless to say, neither is happening.

The Marvel Superheroes Game is already discontinued, it may or may not start showing up cheap.

And of course the much lauded Champions. They have ditched the Fuzion system that everyone hated and gone back to the Hero system.

The Auld Grump, last time he played a superheroes game it was Superworld back in the eighties... so what does he know about them anyways?

The SuperSystem is an excellent quick play SuperHeros' minis' skirmish game.

With 3 expansions and more minis on the way. It is a nice way to break into
the Hero Genre for anyone on the fence.

A full line of figures(SuperFigs) designed for play in the SuperSystem are also available.

For those morally opposed to new versions of anything , there's always their older World of Darkness stuff, like:

Vampire: the Masquerade

Werewolf: The Apocolypse

Mage: the Ascension

Changeling: the Dreaming

Hunter: the Reckoning

Demon: the Fallen

and even Wraith: the Whatever-it-was.

All are based in a dark version of modern nights, and SoM is perfect for them!

I am not opposed to new editions, but well, the new rules for WoD are terrible! The one game I ran of it devolved to 'trading 10s' with both combatants needing to roll 10s to affect the other. Blah!

And it is not as though I loved the original WoD setting, the setting material in the new one is an improvement, the rules are what suck!

We gave up and played RoboRally instead after four hours. No one in the group liked the new rules.
