I just got a canon ip4700, and added a CISS to it, and I am extremely happy with the results

Print quality, after some minor tweaking is excellent...comparable to Canon inks. And ink usage has been amazing. I have probably put through over 500 sheets, and I am barely 1/3 into the reservoirs....So Really Happy

Refill for the ink is under $50for all 5 reservoirs

Thoughts on these?

Two things about the Workforce 610:

It's only a 4 color ink printer (CYMK) and won't have as wide a color range as Epson's 6 ink printers (which include a light cyan and light magenta). If you could get a 6 ink printer, you'll be happier with the color performance when printing.

If you want to attach a CIS, this printer has the ink carts sit on top of the print head, which means your CIS ribbon will be whipping around inside the printer. Generally that's not a big deal, but the Artisan line of Epson printers has stationary ink carts sepearate from the print head, which makes them ideal for a CIS.

For $40 more than the Workforce 610 you can get the Artisan 710, which addresses both those issues, but doesn't have a FAX. if you do a lot of faxing, that might be a deal breaker for you.

Sunraven - Do you know if the Epson 710 can handle cardstock? I read in the user reviews that the 810 jams up easily with 110 weight, but I can't find any reference to the 710.

My biggest trouble researching printers to use for modeling is that so few people outside of this hobby use such heavy paper. It's tough to figure out which printers can handle it.

Talae, any update on your color laser search? I'm trying to find one to print gaming stuff on and so far have only come up with the as the best option. Any ideas?

My search stalled out pre-holidays and then I went overboard with spending on others. The printer will have to wait a few months most likely.
