So with my Streets build in playable condition and ready to meet the needs of my regular D&D game, I'm setting my sights on my next campaign which will be Star Wars SAGA edition. Like my D&D game, what I mostly need is a pool of components big enough to make whatever I need for the session but since I've got a few months before the campaign starts, I've drawn up a shuttle bay in SketchUp that will serve as my first real Titan build.

But, there's a problem. I can't do it the easy way. Oh no. I put together what I wanted it to look like first and now I have a to-do list of Titan components that don't exist yet. So I'm gonna make em as I need em. Thank goodness for Photoshop!

So, before I get started with some actual photos, here are a few pictures showing the shuttle bay I plan to build:









Tan areas are floor tiles and stairs that I can use from the Titan set without any work. Dark green / grey areas are walls from the Titan set that can be used without any work.

Black areas are card box risers I'm making. Yellow areas are floor tiles I need to create, green areas are wall sections I need to create and white areas are props I need to create. Finally, the red sections are post to post connectors.

So my to do list looks something like this:

DONE - 3" and 6" horizontal post-to-post connectors
DONE - Double-height posts
DONE - 3" Double-height wall
DONE - 6" Double-height wall
6" Double-height wall with large airlock door
6" Wall with long window
6" Angled wall with long window
DONE - 6x6 Cargo lift tile
6x6 Shuttle lift / landing pad tile
Double-height ceiling support
DONE - 3" and 6" Freestanding rail
Landing / crash strip
DONE - Stairs with side rail

Hmm, yes, that ought to keep me busy for a while..

WEEK 1

So, good start. I find out that all the foamboard I've been using so far for my Streets build really is some crazy-ass foam-wood-board. My new sheets of foamboard arrived this week and my god it's so much easier to cut!

Used TheAuldGrump's pin idea to save on label printing for the templates and discovered that if I plan it right, my connector tabs get made automatically. Sweet! This week I made enough components to get the arrivals / departure lounge made up and already I've learned and modified a few things:

o) If you are prepared to double up on your door sections, the Firelight method of door making works quite well.
o) The 'lack' of 1" balconies isn't really a lack - you just cut them down to size.
o) The stairs don't have side rails. Poo. Will have to make my own

- and best of all -

o) Stairs can be easily modified to slot into the posts, thus, you don't need to mount then against flat sections of wall. Just cut four strips out of the side and back of the stair box and it slots right into the posts even if there are wall hangers already sitting in the posts. Maybe everyone already knew that? I didn't

Wow, good luck. You sound kinda like I felt when I started my space station. Which also started in Sketchup, though you seem to be much more proficient than I was at that point.

WEEK 2

Okay so I got a lot of cutting done over the weekend and now I have a dozen 6x6 risers, and most of the unmodified floors and walls I will need. Also realised over the weekend that the landing pad "tile" is probably going to be too small. Will give this more thought and probably just make it longer so I dont have to adjust my build too much.

Today I didn't have a lot of time for building, what with everyone being back from holiday here at work.. so my lunch break and the gap between work ending and my D&D session starting was filled with Photoshop work. Here's the WIP of my 3" post to post connector. I was hoping to have it done before I left but I guess I will have to finish it off tomorrow.

Hmm that's weird. That pic looks very green in Chrome, and doesn't work at all in Explorer..

Ah, there we go, all fixed.

Ok, got the stair thing now. That's a good idea. Liking the p2p connector too!

Okay, here are some better pics of yesterdays connectors. These are still the test ones from yesterday as I haven't had time to print and make the slightly nicer ones I finished up. But I did get the double height 3" and 6" walls done in Photoshop today, despite it's best efforts to thwart me..
