As I've been waiting oh-so-impatiently for the WW store to open , I've been spending a lot of time looking over everyone's pics, and of their Chunky Dungeons in particular (some jaw-dropping stuff!)

Something bugged me about the ProMasterBoard, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, 'til now.

In and amongst all of these beautiful, perfect stone hallways is... velcro. It really ruins the look of an otherwise perfect build, and it seems so easy to fix.

Is there a tile that you can make to insert into those blanks between used spaces, to complete the illusion? Simple enough to bash one, I suppose, but I was wondering if CD came with a solution that no one was using yet.

I don't use the loop side of the velcro at all... My boards are covered in felt and the hook side of velrco grips it fine. As a matter of fact the grip is slightly looser than with the loop velcro, so I don't have to fight quite so hard to get my pieces off of the table...

I suppose gray felt would work, but using actual WW textures for filler would still be a bit more consistent, and the more eye candy, the better!

This is a 24"x 36" of galvanized duct sheeting. I got from Home Depot for around $7. The plan is to mount this to a piece of light wood (1/4" plywood, perhaps) and make another matching it so that the total area will be 48"x 36". I'll put some edging around the metal so there aren't any sharp edges exposed and then paint both boards black and give it a protecive coat of varnish. I'll also in the meantime figure out a simple connecting mechanism for the 2 boards. I'd also like to make a leaf for the two pieces so that if necessary, the MB could be 72" x 36". (we'll have to see how the prelims go in this one)



This is one of my tiles I made for the MMB. I used full sheet labels and printed out on DRAFT quality of my new Canon Pixma i4000 ! I mounted them to black foamcore and on the underside, I cut a magnetic business card in half and put them in opposing corners. I ran out of business cards, but I'm going to go back and put a magnetic piece on every corner. I like the business cards the best because they are quite thin and dont't add more heigth to the tiles.


Well, there you have it, the beginnings of my MMB. Hope you guys like it. I'll post more as I get more done on it.

Nice, Anconeus! Do the tiles hold on strong enough to not slide around when you bump the sheet of metal? That's always been my issue with the magnetic business card style of magnets. If what you've done is good enough to not shift around, then congrats!

The thing's gonna weigh a ton, tho!
