It looks sweat and finally nice to see that it is out, I will probably buy it on this next pay check, but that depends on what the bills look like. But I still have the problem that I have no printing capabilities.

I like your enthusiasm, but might I suggest that instead of buying the hot new item that you can't do anything with, you instead put the money towards saving for a printer? Unless, of course, you have a printer coming some other way in the near future. I know the WWG crew would love you to buy it, and we all know more WH gamers is a good thing, but the product is not going anywhere. Get that printer and then buy the set!

Printed out my battleship last night, along with some frigates....get to start putting them together sunday, most likely.

I really do like looks of this fleet much better than the Sathricans...plus the supership is really neat. by chance, is there going to be a mini expansion so the Sathricans can have one too?

Read through the additional rules once...I'm digging the plasma markers. they could make for some interesting tactical decisions...keep hammering one ship, or hope that you'll burn it out later and start laying fire into another?

I doubt we will see a Sathrican Supership any time soon. Each race in WormHole has its own unique strengths, weaknesses, and style. While the Sathrican fleet elements were two frigates, two squadrons, and two capital ships, the Verus only have one frigate (albeit with a few different loadouts), two squadrons, two capital ships, and one supership. It is not beyond reason to consider that a future race might have two superships, a capital ship, and thee squadrons available to it (this is not currently in the works to the best of my knowledge, just a possibility to illustrate what I a trying to ay.)

Barring the possibility of a full-spread one-of-each-ship game (which sounds silly to me), I don't see why total ship count has to be the same for different factions. If that's the rule, then kitbashing new ships goes out the window. Maybe the Sathrican fleet has a colony ship, absolutely packed with defensive measures. That fits the style & situation of the Sathricans just fine.

Kitbashes are a whole different ballgame...

A Sathrican colony ship would be a cool kitbash. While the current release format certainly seems to be six ships or squadrons divided into two or more factions, there is nothing to prevent players to actively create new ships for a given race. One of the original ideas behind the Wormhole fleets was that the player community would contribute to the whole of the game. There was a speedbump in getting 'bashes relased, but hopefully it is all back on track and we will see more fan-created stuff relatively soon.

True, but that was really an aside. My point is: who says one race can't have more vessels than another? I mean, Verus already has more ships than the Sathricans (and yes, a cargo frigate is a substantially different vessel than a plasma frigate etc.). In any given game, fleet composition is limited by point total and applicable scenario rules - not by the race's available ships. Why can't we have a race with no capital ships, 3 ships, and 8 different squadrons? Or a mini-race made entirely of tokens? If the races are designed well (and so far they seem to be very well designed), then matching one race's fleet to another's is simply a matter of tactics, and adding another well-balanced ship to the mix shouldn't affect that at all.

Hey, I'm just saying...the opposing factions should start responding to each other and stealing each other's ideas...

And since if I recall correctly the new webstore that's somewhere in the pipeline should be more geared towards microexpansions...there's no need to limit ourselves to what comes in the base fleet.

Some very good points. Maybe the WormHole developers-at-large will consider these as future options. I mean, don't take what I say as The One Whole Truth, I'm just some guy who does occasional playtesting for WormHole

Really the ship class count is only for balance. Having one or two ships more or less than another faction probably wouldn't be bad so long as game balance is maintained. They only real issue would be the ship abilities since basic stats like SPD, INI, ATK etc are already balanced by points. Mostly though we keep the ship type count the same for ease of balancing and to keep the overall expansion roughly the same size as the others. That said, we have not completely discounted the possibility of adding more ships to standing races down the road as expansions.

Though we are certainly listening, with great interest, to what you all have to say!


We're looking at the possibility of racial expansions alongside other full race releases. We'd like to keep everyone's interest in all of the Wormhole races high, so while I can't promise that there will be more Sathrican vessels, we certainly don't want them to become the "second class citizens" of the Wormhole universe.

For what it's worth, there's technially a seventh Sathrican vessel (the ADP).
