Just a few minutes ago I realized that somewhere along the line I named the PCom build I made during the throes of a high fever 'Fever Dream'.

I don't remember naming it, but there it was.

Does anyone else name their builds?

My named builds that come to mind are - Collegium Magicka (and all its bits 'n' pieces), Godforsaken Hole (one of the first WWG builds I ever did), Bloodweiser Field (Arena Works repurposed to Bloodbowl - the very first piece of WWG terrain I ever made - before I even owned any of my own), Piotr's Pit (Arena Works for Mordheim), Pirates' Cove, Smuggler's Inn, The Mill, The Mill Mk II, The Mill Mk III (hey, I like mills), Mariner's Chapel (I really need to rebuild that one), Victorious Secret (flagship of the Solid Doves), Tower Bridge, Dwarfmouth Gate (the one that got stolen from a game store), the Roundhouse, The Scrapyard, The 'Jackshop (alternately the Stallhouse), Lowtown Docks, the Steam Launch (just a Jollyboat with a steam engine from Reviresco), not every build got named, but the ones that stick in my mind all had them... and nearly all of them were given away over the years.

Hell, I can still remember what bits and pieces went into them, many borrowed from lots of sets. The sad thing is that looking at the list makes me wish that I'd used a camera....

As for naming, my builds do not have a specific name other than what I am building (i.e., if I am building The Horny Goat Tavern, then that is the name of the build).

I tend to go as modular as possible (and often on the fly) so I don't have names for specific builds. I could start doing so, though...

Eric! If in doubt, I go with Eric: 'Eric the Build'; or, in too many cases, 'Eric the Half a Build'

If it's a sign on it, that's the name of the build. Mostly I build whole themes, so I will have a box of buildings and tiles and think of it as "Mon Gazza streets and deserts" or some such.

I think that the habit kicked in because so many of my builds were intended as prizes. Looks better to see a named build on the poster. Though come to think only Dwarfmouth Gate actually had the battle named after it. And that was also the one to get stolen.

A dwarf sally from a fortified gate, reversing the typical role - the dwarfs were an attacking force trying to break the siege, not just trying to defend the walls. They needed to make it to the enemy deployment zone. The orcs won if they could shatter the gate. If both or neither had happened then it would have been a tie. I had a Grendel dwarf Golem and steam tank all painted up for it, too.

I must say, as I use the planner more, I have been naming my designs (need a file name!). After this thread came out, I started thinking about more creative names for my projects.
