Finally decided to show off my Chunky Dungeons project to a bunch of my fellow roleplayers a few days ago. We've been using some of the tiles for small underground excursions, but I wanted to give them a taste of a larger scenario. We primarily use Chessex's Battlemat, but some of my firends would like some better visual aides.

Here's some of the pictures I took when I let my DM go wild with the miniatures (I set up the dungeon and provided the minis, he created the story and mini placement).



I'm still in the process of creating the Masterboard. Reading the forums here have given me several possible options and now I just need to pick one and get to building it. I also need to finish all the edging on the walls and some of the small accessory pieces. I need more tiles, walls...ARGH! Still so much work to do...

Any comments and criticisms are welcome...just remember that this is my first paper model I've ever done.

*Edit*: I've added an album that has pictures of the paper minis I've made. I also plan on posting a few of my painted metal minis when I get the chance.

Yup, the paper miniatures by Jim Hartman are excellent (am I allowed to say that here?).

I don't know about the Pirates as I have only done the Zombies and the Tau, but the front and the back side don't match up perfectly in some areas, so you have to cut out the figures before folding and glueing and then edge them. Takes longer than if you could simply fold and cut, but the finished figures look great.

Very nice setup. That's also a lot of miniatures from different manufactureres working together.

At first, it took quite a bit of work, and not all paper miniatures are the same. The ones I like are the Jim Hartman style, where the paper mini is like a GamesWorkshop figure in that it has a tab at the bottom to insert into a base. All the others don't have this feature and require a different base setup using bits of transparencies stapled to a cardboard base to hold the mini up.

The easiest part is gluing the two halves of the mini together and doing the edging. The hard part it cutting all the excess paper around the picture and making the base. My fingers still hurt from cutting away two layers of 110 lbs cardstock paper for 10 Skeleton Pirates. I'm already considering changing my base design to make things simpler, and look more professional.

Jim Hartman rules indeed! I wish I could find more of his work. I'd be willing to purchase anything of his...and yeah, we used all kinds of minis for the setup. D&D, Chronopia (I miss that company *sniff*), Confrontation (awesome but not cheap), GamesWorkshop, Reaper (my fav), and old Heartbreaker. To me, as long as it looks cool, it's going into my mini case.

Sometime back Denny mentioned he had contacted a designer to do some paper standees. My secret hope is that that unnamed designer is Jim Hartman, though I doubt it.

Chronopia has been picked up and is currently published by , so if you like it you can still pick it up.

Rackham (the guys that do Confrontation) simply have the best miniatures around IMHO.
Reaper is my second favorite for their excellent quality/price ratio.

I'm curious about that huge tomb in one of the rooms. I know it's not WW, but there's nothing like it here at WW. Where could I find that piece?
