You mean the overpass from SOM? No it doesn't since you can effectively make the same thing using the existing elements in SOL. This set is literally props in a stage-and-screen sort of sense.

It does include several of the other props from SOM however such as the concrete barriers and subway entrance.

No, I mean the pedestrian bridge. You know, the narrow one, with stairs? Designed to be freestanding?

Not the overpass for, you know, cars? Designed to be attached to roads?

I know that's what you meant, Grump. SOL gives you the components to make those already and much better than what's in SOM, just not freestanding, so they're redundant.

Better if you want three inch, not one inch, better if you don't want free standing.

In this instance I want one inch and free standing, so, no, this is worse, not better. I want a pedestrian bridge, not something I can take a car across. I want stairs (or something that looks like stairs) not ramps. I want a potential choke point, where control of access is important.

So, the proper answer is 'no, this does not contain what you want' not 'it's better than what you want' because, for the use I am picturing the props, neither this nor Streets of Legend itself have what I need or want. Not having what I want is not 'better'.

Not a huge matter in this case, as I do have the original Streets, but I was hoping for a ped bridge resized for the roads in SoL. The whole point of the Props, as far as I am concerned, is not everything needs to be married to the TLX architecture. Sometimes freestanding is better. Thus, props for things like the billboards, ped bridge, etc..

What it comes down to is that, by the sound of it, I can give this set a miss. It contains, as far as I know, little of use for someone who already owns the original SoM, aside from whatever new content you are adding. The ped bridge is what I would have found most useful for a Fallout game, and the only part that could be improved by resizing. (The billboards are also handy, but don't span a road.) It will be adding incidentals, not substance as far as useful terrain goes.

I am not saying that it will be bad, just less useful than having the older SoM, which is kind of okay, since it will likely also be less expensive.

*EDIT* Worth noting, I also rather miss the supports for the actual overpass, and may kitbash a truss that glues directly to the columns in TLX, linking them in pairs - seems like a neat and simple way to handle that. A loss of flexibility for those columns turned into trusses, but I think that the aesthetics will compensate.

All of which SOL has. Stairs + Posts + concrete hallways + railings = ped bridge.

And the hallways are 3 inches wide, so no it does not, and the railings make it even wider. Nor are the stairs, as I remember, free standing (this I am blurrier on, and I am at the wrong computer to check). The free standing portion is also important.

Trying to say that the camel is makes a fine horse does not get rid of the hump.

The point is you can construct a pedestrian bridge just not the same bridge as in the old set.



SOL has the same free-standing, 1", 1.5" and 3" stairs as just about every other TLX set.

In fact you build a pedestrian bridge that is different in that you can run a freaking trolley along it. Very much missing the whole 'pedestrian' and 'narrow' aspects - few people consider a 15' wide bridge to be 'narrow'. A 5', yes, a 7', maybe. 10' plus? Ummmm, no.



This part I will grant, I don't have it handy to check, but I am willing to believe that I am completely wrong in that aspect, and that you both remember making the stairs and have it to hand if I doubt you in a fit of insanity. (Trying for humor, failing. Badly.)

But the real answer is 'why, no. You can't build a narrow, free standing pedestrian bridge', which is what I was trying to address.

You could probably kitbash one with relative ease (manually even, no photoshoppery required).

What would be great, to follow Grump idea, would be to have bridges and catwalks like the LotDG ones...

Seems like a perfect idea for a kitbash, especially since the catwalks exist and it would just be a texture swap.

I'm with the Grump on this one - there is a need for narrow elevated walkways/bridges in TLX, in all settings.

These aren't currently included in base sets. Which leaves the question:
What TLX sets would narrow elevated walkways/bridges appear in? Props sets? Or are these a booster set item?

Or, as I mentioned, just use the one from SoM, easy peasy. It will be slightly longer than I might find optimal, but not a big deal.

I am more annoyed with trying to say that you can use SoL to do the same thing, or calling it 'better', which is just not true - it is not doing what I want to do, so it is not 'better', trying to tell me that it is accomplishes little aside from annoying me and frustrating you - I dislike anything that smacks of a hard sell, and I get crabby.

Comments on kitbashing, with or without Photoshoppery or Gimping, on the other hand are no problem, I can smile, nod, and start making plans. Much more useful. Heck, using the trusses from SoL that I mentioned above is something I just tested - just some slight resizing, but can be done in Paint, let along a more powerful program. Stupidly easy, and looks pretty good.

Hey CapnG, How is this coming along? Have anything at all you can feed us until it is ready?

This has been ready to go for some time actually but the website update and migration has taken priority (and rightly so) on Denny's schedule. There have for instance been previews sitting in limbo for weeks but they need Denny's approval.

I'm considering having Denny cloned but unfortunately that too is waiting on Denny's approval...

Its actually on the super cool new webstore countdown timer for release in 5 days and 15 hours. I cant wait!!!

I hear that cloning isn't cheap either...
