Hello WWG peoples! After years of lurking I figured it was about time to introduce myself.

I got involved with WWG stuff after seeing the booth at Gen Con. in late 2009 I bought a copy of The Maiden from the web shop shortly thereafter - primarily just to use pieces and parts from it to build sails and a mast for a resin ship I already had. (However, that project still hasn't seen any action )

Somewhere in late 2010 I bought the HotDK & VotA sets and used more pieces and parts to just glue to more traditional scenery for some Lord of the Rings Moria scenarios (specifically the Balrog at the Bridge scene) I was running at some local cons.




I've also picked up some misc. sets that have gone on sale over the past few months, figuring "eventually" I'll do something with them. So here we are now in 2011 and I decided I wanted to expand the scenarios for some more traditional dungeon crawl stuff between the main scenarios. I figured since I already had the sets and some card stock I'd use the HotDK & VotA sets the way they were intended and started learning how to build the TLX stuff.




So, after approx 2 dozen short walls, 6 corridor & 6 room tiles, and one 12"x24" speed mount board I'm completely hooked. My knuckles are starting to bruise from all of the pressure I'm using holding down a straight edge. To help with that problem my Silhouette SD arrived yesterday!



I'll get some more pics up when the assorted piles of tiles and walls actually turn into an organized build.

One question - is there a way to link from the user galleries into these forums?

Welcome to the fold! Also, great pictures. It is a great idea to use Lord of the Rings scenarios to get people interested in the table-top world. Can't wait to see more pics/builds from you.

Also, what Scrub said for images (copy url or copy image location are the common things to looks for with the right click). You can get fancier than that, but there is no need.

Talea, - LotR is a great people grabber because of its familiarity. Unfortunately I never get to play the game amongst the local players because of its reputation for not being a "real" wargame. So these conventions have really become my prime source for mini-gaming.

Ghalgor - I got that invisible Frodo as a promo for signing up for a year subscription to White Dwarf magazine. Great figure - not so much good for the magazine anymore unfortunately.


Well, my build is finally starting to look like something.

I'd probably be further along if the silhouette would quit being so finicky about finding the registration marks!

Did your silhouette come with the old cut file program or the newer studio program? I found that for some reason after downloading the new studio program that didn't happen quite as much. Also some printers aren't really good about printing square. If you are printing from a side or drop down paper feed area it sometimes prints a little crooked. Try printing from the main paper supply area. If you already are, look at the bottom two reg marks and see how far one is off square and adjust how you hand feed the page into the cutter and offset it a little bit to make them more or less even. I had printed a bunch of pages off square when I first started. Downloading the new software helped alot, but some were still too off, but putting them in at a slight angle worked and I didn't have to end up cutting them by hand.

I did download the new software. The "square-ness" of the registration marks relative to the paper was the issue. Nothing a paper cutter and a slightly angled cut didn't cure. Thanks!
