Sounds cool Grump. Have one of your players bring a digital camera so you can snap a few pics.

I plan on expanding my layout to 7 x 7 as well, but I don't want to build more elevated train lines right now.

In all honesty, this isn't much worth taking pictures of - it is straight unreworked SoM, done on 7"x7" masterboards on white foamcore (I have a box of scraps of the stuff). I have not yet edged the foamcore, but will be using dark grey. So, nothing earthshaking. (Hmmm, Earthquake in Senseround using SoM...)

If and when I do photograph anything I want it to be something that I put some mental effort into. This is just a tesselation exercise. The only advantage is that it can be swapped around easily into new configurations.

I do have some thoughts for customized tiles, a collapsed overhead rail section for example. But this isn't really a set that I have big plans for at this moment. Now Himmelveil... *Twitch!*

The Auld Grump

Just got back from them, ended up doing just the All Flesh scenario, folks had lost interest in just testing out Spycraft. Went well, though I realized partway through that I could have used parts from Firstlight to fake the inside of the subway car for the final confrontation. They finally realized that it was closer to a Puppetmasters scenario than to Night of the Living Dead when the heroes encountered the Queen. If I ever run this again I will get First Light to do the train. As it was the thing was in the subway tunnel instead of the train. All the PCs survived, but two out of six were badly hurt, and noone was uninjured. Shotguns are nasty in the game, but they killed the Queen with cable and the electrical rail on the track.

Things used other than SoM: Dungeon Works Classic for the subway tunnel, stone pier from Skull Cove for the platform, Interior Works: Castles & Keeps for the station. Or to put it another way - I printed a few more train track tiles from the bridge in SoM and plopped them down in the center of a Dungeon Works hallway, took a room built with Castles & Keeps and added a track and some piers from Skull Cove, and the 1.5 inch version of the stairs from the pedestrian walkway formed the stairs into the subway.

The C&K room was actually 2 identical rooms, each with one wall stone the other arches only. These rooms were set so that the arches faced each other over the track. It will be easy to expand this into a less improvised station by putting a strip of arches between 2 sets of tracks, and cutting the DW hallway in half, gluing a pair of tracks to the floor to produce a wider 2 track tunnel. But it worked okay. I was likely the only one to notice that the station had a left and right platform, but only the single track. The rooms are actually part of a rebuild of the Seafarer's Chapel that got stolen. (I decided to make it bigger and more elaborate, but never got around to building the front of the Maiden for the pulpit this time around.) It definitely worked for an older subway station.

To represent the entrance to the subway on the surface play area I used a triangular plastic package for a sandwich that I got at my local supermarket a few years ago. (I have had it for years, never used it till now.)

I was glad that I had glued the bridge to the masterboard, I think that it would have flipped otherwise - the players had reached the conclusion that dead guys don't climb to well and were all on one side of the bridge shooting down.

Observations - the set definitely needs a vacant lot! The wasteland tile just does not fill the role.

When the cars are finally released for this set a cop car would be a great idea. One PC was a cop, and the only character to start the scenario armed. He had a service revolver on his hip, and a short barreled shotgun in his trunk. All other weapons were improvised.

Other vehicles desired - a yellow taxi, a station wagon, and a school bus.

The grip strips on the stairs have a small difficulty with some of the metal figures on ceramic flooring tile bases. These tiles have a series of stripes that are slightly thicker than the rest of the tile, to help the flooring cement grip them, and worked fine if the figure was turned one way, but allowed them to slide down the stairs if turned the other.

Yep, almost all of the Enemy Within was republished from the original, but the last scenario was a complete rewrite - the old one completely disagreed with the 'revised' timeline. *Spoilers in Black, Highlight to read*

Among the changes:

Emperor Kar Franz dies.

The Empreror's son is a mutant.

The Emperor's son flips out when the Elector Counts do not accept him as heir (his mutations are hidden) and ends up killing the Elctor Count of the Midlands with his tongue!

Th PCs go through a bunch of adventures/dungeon crawls at the behest of the Grand Theoginist and the Church of Ulric.

While they are gone the Empire goes into civil war.

The PCs confront a dragon who is possessed by a greater demon of Tzeencth. Dragon flees. Sigmar shows up, PCs get Gal Maraz (sp?) - Sigmar's Hammer. (The Warhammer of the Warhammer World.)

Dragon gets killed by Cannon, takes over Grand Theoginist.

Sigmar's Hammer is returned, and given to his direct heir.

Everyone lives happilly ever after, unless they are dead.


AS I said, a bit of a railroad ride. I never saw the adventure that Hogshead replaced it with.
