Warning: PICTURES AHEAD

Finally got my awesome box of Terraclips and had time to sit down and make something. My initial idea started with a noble house with a large festivity hall that had an overhanging balcony.


Generic large hall with a utility room off to the side. My current idea is that this is a separate dining hall. I decided at this point that all the servants live elsewhere and food is made offsite. After all, this guy is rich enough to do that.


A large fountain courtyard is off the otherside of the mainhall. A couple "guest rooms" are located next to the courtyard.


An entry was added to the hall. At this point, I started wishing for a double-wide piece that had a door in the middle. I might end up using one of those "triple door" pieces by cutting out the middle door. There's also a sitting room open to the courtyard that is slated to contain stairs to the second floors.


Start of the second floor. Balconies on the inside? MADNESS! I could tell the pieces were not designed for this as I had to non-slot several of the pieces to get them in the right place. However, it didn't seem to cause any problems with the pieces.


Landing for the second floor. What's awesome is that this entire room is being held on by that single I-clip which isn't even slotted correctly. I had absolutely no problems with it staying put.


Blurry shot of the complete second floor. The large room opposite the landing is the master bedroom (HUGE!). The balcony overlooks the main festivity hall. Perfect for shady conversations, covert crowd watching, and listening to the orchestra.


Roofs! You can tell the noble started to run out of money at this point. The roof over the master bedroom doesn't quite keep the rain out. Additionally, guests will have to walk through the rain to get to the main hall.


Small balcony I added off the master bedroom. Perfect for a moonlight kiss or a quick getaway.

Overall build time was 2.5 hours, though most of that was learning how to use the pieces and looking through disorganized piles for that specific piece.

I'm very impressed by what you guys have done with Terraclips! The only real complaints I have are pretty minor compared to the quality and usefulness of the product.

First complaint: There are way too many specific details in pieces. Chimneys on roof tiles, strange markings on walls, too many doors on wall sections, etc. For me, it is a lot easier to add details either in imagination or by other means (papercraft?) than to remove details from tiles.

This probably only became a real problem due to the size of the build and I did enjoy when there was a tile that fit exactly what I was looking for. I'm ready to acknowledge this as just one of the differences between TCP and TLX.

Second complaint: While 98% of the pieces punched out beautifully and there were no problems. The more frequent problem was just the die not cutting entirely through the paper on one side. It seems like a simple fix, but I work with computers so I have no idea what I'm talking about.

The less frequent, though more disconcerting problem was what seemed to be an inconsistent die on the railings for Buildings of Malifaux. When I lined up pieces on one side, the slots were off by a noticeable amount. The length of the pieces were also off by a similar amount.




This seems to be an isolated issue since the railings for Sewers and Streets turned out perfect. I hope this is just that small percentage in manufacturing that you can't really account for. I'm not going to hold it against Terraclips. I just hope it can be fixed in future batches somehow.

That is an amazing build. I'm definiltely going to steal many of your ideas.

Those are the ones referenced in the previous pic, though it is not limited to those pieces. It seems to have affected all the pieces with more than one clip slot.

It's not a terrible problem, just noticeable compared to the the balcony rails from Streets and Sewers.

Edit: Just checked my sweeps and Gamesmith Denny was right. I ended up using the wrong ones. It is very helpful to be organized before you start a build.

I know its a lot to ask Traken but could you take a picture of the railings you're having issues with layed out flat on top of a piece of white paper. I would like to get a look at the complete length of each individual railing so that I can check it against what I have here.

That would go a long way in helping me see the issue and hopefully resolving it for you (or for others).

I tried to line up the notches. Hope the bad lighting and bad camera don't get in the way too much.

What I did was crack open 3 boxes and stacked up all of the relevant railings. They all aligned perfectly, which is to say I didn't experience this issue. That's not to say your issue isn't real, its just to say that I'm currently baffled. The only way this could have happened is if the factory created a completely new die at some point during the production run which wasn't copied from the same specs or the die was damaged somehow at some point during the run. Long story short, I'll need to confirm this with the factory and keep our ears to the ground to see if this is reported elsewhere.

I'm a bit confused - I have the same problem with the railings as the above poster shows in his picture. Fortunately, I bought 2 sets of buildings and I can confirm the sheet with the railings is different between the two sets.

Here is what I mean:






The 1st pic is the sheet with the railings that line up nicely. This matches Denny's diagram of a sheet from a post above.

The 2nd pic is the same sheet (from my 2nd set) where the railings don't line up.

The 3rd pic shows the same railings from the two sets with the bottoms aligned - on the set on the left, you can easily see that the heights and notches do not line up. On the set on the right, they line up perfectly. (I realize the 3rd pic isn't lined up perfectly but it's close enough to show the problem.)
