Himmelveil? *TWITCH!* (Told you that I would DNA...)

DNA mentioned the need for some generic buildings over on the Mayhem Speculation thread, which made me realize that Himmelveil will also require some generic, modular structures - similar to those in Village Works but more detailed, both inside and out.

Not every building has to be specific, and if you are in a town that has had frequent fires in the middle ages then you will find buildings that follow a similar plan all over the city. (Moscow took it one step further - you could buy precut lumber for specific designs... the prefab house dates back to the 12th century! When you have fires every decade or so you get ready for the next one early...)

And now back to our regularly scheduled program...

There are two shipyards near Himmelveil and a third is in the works... The smallest is upriver, and makes smaller vessels, suitable for river and coastal runs.

The second... Everyone knows that dwarfs make terrible sailors, but the Bulgut family has been putting that knowledge to the test for three generations now, and are widely claimed as the finest shipbuilders in the nation. They keep both of their drydocks in perfect condition, reparing them each a ship is launched. The four massive cranes that they maintain can be seen from across the city, at least if you stand in the right places to look. They have been the chosen shipyard for the Royal Navy since Renger Bulgut's grandfather was the owner of the yard. One of the requirements set down from the yard's founding has been that before a Bulgut works in the yard he must spend two years at sea, to learn the tricks that only experience can teach. And despite the reputations that dwarfs have as sailors the Bulguts are welcome on any ship.

The third yard is yet unfinished, as there is some acrimony over whether such a yard is needed - Malleck Steamengine Company plans to specialize in the building not only of steamships but locomotives as well. And in the one currently operating building they are crafting large steam powered golems to labor on their engines... LIke Bulgut's the Malleck Steam Engine Company is owned by dwarfs, but they have hired from all the races is an effort to spread their vision of an industrialized future. Even goblins have come to work in the shops, and have proven themselves natural to the task.

I did notice! I came here to point it out, but it seems that I'm not the only one who's ready to start *TWITCH!*ing with wild abandon!

For the record, the WIP meter is now at the second peak of the "Final Build" bar!

I clicked on every @#!% mm of that image on the front page hoping for an "Easter Egg"!! Definitely twitching here.

What I'd love to know re: SoH is how much variety will be in the first set? I've got a CWU project I'm (slowly) working on and I'd love to get a sense of whether I should wait on some of the buildings for SoH, or build them with CWU? Oh well, time will tell. It's not like I don't have a ton of walls and towers to finish anyway (not to mention the masterboard tiles)!

I'm really excited about Himmeltwitch. This is what I'm planning on using to build Sharn. This and CWU.

I can't promise definitely because I have to head over to the airport tonight to pick up my Mom for her summer with the grandkids tour. If I don't have much of a chance tonight I'll definitely try tomorrow.

The kitbash for the bridge is quite simple in theory, just a little complex in execution. When I post the pictures I'll post instructions.

The Kitbash for The Maiden is an idea I got from watching Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang. Foldable wings. I haven't started due to time constraints but I'm planning on using "Shish Kabob (sic)" skewers for the modified wingspan and either paper or light cloth for the actual wing surface. Making them foldable might be too much hassle so I might create them in two stages, folded and unfurled in all their condor-like glory... LOL
