Yes it is! I had a lot of fun making it, and hope to see more Forge items in the future. It's way easier for me to finish one of these builds, than anything with TLX, because I stop when I get to the end, with TLX I just keep going and going and going and going......

How long do you think it took you from start to finish?

I actually did this a while ago, and just posted the pics now. If I remember correctly it was about 3 evenings of work, some of the foamcore bits are hard to cut, and the trim is a bit fiddly, but apart from that fairly straightforward. I also had to enlarge the notches on the stand a bit for a proper fit.

I have the sword and the Lightning Gun all laser printed on good paper...I really must get around to them

Three nights isn't too bad for such a thing (I guess that all depends on the time spent each night ). I have now come to a debate: do I print/build the sword/gun or go with a TLX set for my summer time.

For me the sword was fun to make, but wasn't something that will get used a lot in my games (although it looks cool). So TLX would be a more valuable expenditure of my time, but the blade was a nice way to change things up.

I didn't think it was worth me starting a whole new thread to post my own pics of the Warlock Blade, but I *finally* made one, and am so glad I did. The whole thing took a little over an hour for me. I want to make several more, but I need to fiddle with my printer to get the output a little lighter. It's a shame not to be able to see all the detail on this thing.

If anyone reading this hasn't gotten around to building one, I highly recommend doing it!

Is this with or without an automated cutter? I have been meaning to build my blade, but just haven't actually put knife to paper yet.

I thought about using the cutter, but I ended up free-hand cutting everything. I occasionally used the ruler, but I was kinda cruising along and sometimes it takes longer to line up the ruler than necessary...

Just pay attention to which printed pieces are destined for their own foamcore, and which are meant to be two sides to a single piece of foamcore. I almost stuck my stickers all down on the foamcore, and caught myself just in time.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I will see if I can squeeze in some build time in the next two weeks of daddy/daughter time...but she is 1 1/2 so I am not getting my hopes up.

The minute I held the completed blade in my hand, I was wishing for a great axe, a mace... It's such a great prop! I'm going to try to scale everything down and make the kids some short swords or large daggers. A 3' sword is tough when you're 4' tall

I didn't bother adding the strips of edging around the sword. I might try it at some point just to see if the sticker paper will hold on. I did go over things with a black sharpie - all projects worth doing are worth edging!

Did you do it all with foamcore and sticker sheets?
Or did you use cardstock as well? If so, for which parts ?

The only thing that isn't sticker sheets here is the grip, which is cardstock. It was kinda nice not to have to apply glue to much of anything - this was really a relaxing project!

I've been using sticker sheets more and more over the past few years and I've been consistently impressed by how well they hold up. Anything involving foamcore or matte board mounting, there's no better tool to speed things up.

I bought the kit as part of this years Halloween Madness sale and ... here it is!



I have a very small amount of space in the guest room for my stuff, so I went with mounting it to the back of the closet door using some tacky glue dots - I can remove it in a flash with no damage...



Since I use a cutter, adding the trim was a no-brainer, and it looks great (the texture aligns with the blade to make it seem seamless.)
