I went to the store a while back to grab some Ultra Premium Glossy Photo Paper for the roll arena. They didn't have any of that for Laser Jet (I have the Brother HL-4040CN), so I asked the guy at the counter. He said that you could use ink jet paper in laser jet printers but couldn't use laser jet paper in ink jet printers.

I just opened the package today and the directions say "Caution: Use this media with ink jet printers only. Do not use it with laser printers or copiers; doing so may damage your equipment." I'm thinking maybe the guy at the counter didn't know what he was talking about...

Anyone have a type of glossy photo paper they think is best for laser jet printers?

The paper/cardstock used doesn't affect print quality for laser printers the way it does with inkjet printers. This is because the toner is heat fixed onto the paper by the printer, rather than seeping into the paper (as happens with the ink of an inkjet printer - inkjet photo paper is treated to give it better seepage characteristics).

I've had limited success laser printing onto glossy cardstock (get problems with the toner flaking off). I've tried one print on Brother glossy paper - it did look a little nicer (probably due to the glossy effect, more than anything) but wasn't keen to risk my printer with any more. A google search for 'glossy laser paper' turned up a range of options that might be worth trying.

An alternative would be to spray the final product with a glossy sealant.
