I take user suggestions VERY seriously and often include many of the suggestions I receive in new model sets. Use this topic to post whatever ideas you might have for future expansions of the VillageWorks model set. This is your personal wish list

again let me say that village works is the most awsome set i have come across to date (except for the preview of cave works) but with that siad her goes my wish list

1) large versions of the buildings
2) different doors and windows
3) some different shaped buildings
4) different shaped roof pices
5) dormer type roof pices
6) wider bridge type pices

First and foremost.
I LOVE the sets.  They are complete the way they are, though lack a bit of authenticity.  These could have other farther-reaching ways to be applied, not only for tabletop games.  I have used this set in particular to build a village with my childcare kids.  They loved it!  As soon as you can get the next ones out the door, Andorax has a credit card waiting for them.  I know he will see the new set long before I do, and I will get a VERY excited phone call.  (Cavern works; DROOOL!  Gimme Gimmie Gimmie!)

On to your requested wish list.
Most of this may be a bit complicated or unnecessary, though would be nice someday.

-Stocks
-Hangmans platform
-Fences would be so neat, variable types.  White picket, split cedar, rough poles, etc.
-Scenery.  Trees, shrubs, and piles of items: wheels, boxes, bags and buckets.  Mundane items.
-Different shaped houses are always good, even different textures would be nice for the existing ones
-Bars for windows, for the "over protective" homeowner.
-More signs for shops.  Adventurers have many needs after all!
-Animals: Poultry, cattle, horses, dogs etc.
-A traveling merchants wagon.  You have a merchants stall, though nothing for the roving peddler of odd goods
-A milk cart
-Horse drawn cabbies
-A lumber mill
-Schoolhouse
-A stable yard
-Slaughter house/granary area

Here's an easy request.  I'd like to have the base pieces come witout the grids (I am a miniatures gamer and it detracts from the model... well, it does me, but I'm slightly anal-retentive!)

First off, Denny, the requisite kudos: Villageworks are simply beautiful and are perfectly usable enough for wilderness adventuring as much as village roleplaying.

1. How about some trees? The penguinlabs trees are pretty disappointing (that's what you get for $1) and it would be great to see your artistry lent to the task. IMO, different size trees are more important than a wider variety.  Someone mentioned a whole elvin/fae village environment, it would be cool to see treeforts, walkways, or gnomish under-roots kinda cottages (IYKWIM).

2. City walls and a gatehouse. I guess one can just use the Castleworks pieces, but a lower set would make for cooler integration between the two.

3. Wizard's tower!

4. Pallisades. For those villagers who can't afford the stoneworks walls, I think it would be great to design something a little more rural, it would also be great to have wooden watchtowers, and maybe a whole orcish village set (FortWorks?)

On the "tree" issue...I started a project a couple of months ago that will hopefully satisfy everyone’s vegetation concerns. You'll be able to create large expansive forests with ease...That’s all I can say for now

What about a cemetery expansion? It seems I find myself in dire need of one all of a sudden. Wizards of the Coast has a nice mausoleum and fencing in their paper models, but terribly boring gravestones, and no gothy statuary.

I'd like to see trees. Trees, shrubs, bushes, the works. And campsite acoutrements. You know, a few simple tents, a camp fire, and some good ol' stumps and fallen logs to sit on.

Of course, these could easily be delayed for WesternWorks, but I hope not.  :-/

I believe I am right in thinking that trees etc will be handled in 'Exteriorworks', right Denny?

If you're going to have campsite pieces, yah gotta have a chuck wagon of sorts. Beans don't grow on trees, you know :}

- livestock pens
- merchant buildings
- teamsters building
- storehouse
- wooden swing crane
- business signs

What about different architectural styles for the villages and possibly Castle Works?  I'm not sure about possible demand, but I think a generic Oriental and a generic "Arabian"/Dark Sun desert buildings might be quite neat.  Along that note, in addition to having your ships in sea Works, what about large land vehicles.  Not just wagons and chariots, but big "landships."  Hmmm, might make a neat RPG setting as well...

I think more carts and wagons would be very usefull!  Everything from farm wagons to "buckboards" to fancy carriages for nobles!

How else can a band of "Robin Hood" wanabes earn their living?

Cultur specific Buildings could be usefull.

Maybe as Mini-Sets (?)
I think especially a Viking Longhouse (the houses that looks like a boat lying topdown) that is somewhat modular so you could cut a short or a long House.

And a Bamboo Hut for my Jungle Barbarians (or savage orcs)

With on central building (house or hut) and different pieces of stuff (poles with skulls for the shaman hut, a weapon+shields rack for the chieftain hut) you could make different buildings.

*EDIT* Spelling, spelling, spelling.... Which reminds me, how about a Wizard's Tower?

Not sure if it goes here or CastleWorks, but I think wooden palisades and maybe some wooden watch towers would be good. Also seige engines, but thats probably more for Castleworks.

New types of fences also would be good! Such as a corral fence around a barn.


...hmm.. maybe there could be a FarmWorks, or ManorWorks for an expansion. Go real detailed on a medieval keep. Cross of interierior, village, and exterior.

Also , as I'm in need of one, a village in the trees. Everyone could use one of these. Houses and inns, especially an inn, nestled in large trees! Bridges of various sorts, from swing bridges to harder bridges. Staircases, ramps, other good stuff Or maybe just put some extra large trees in an Exterior package.

Here is a request:
-make houses where you have an interior, so you can play in the houses not only on the street
-Shops would be cool
-A tower

Somewhere back on another thread Denny talked about the difficulty of trying to blend the exterior models of Villiageworks with the interiorworks models. I understood why (having tried some of  another manufacturer) and so simply built exterior settings on one masterboard, and interior settings on another. This actually worked out pretty well, because I was able to do the exterior stuff at 1" squares, and the interiors at 1.5". This helped with keeping things from getting to congested. We just count the interior squares as if they're 1" for movement, spell effects, etc. Plus, the walls for P&I & C&K are easier to see over than if you had a building that you just took the roof off of. I still think the ultimate would be such a set up, but I don't see a way to make it to practical. But having the exterior/interior masterboards works well, and makes my game seem like Baldur's Gate or such, where the group transitions from one setting to another. The problem of course is when you're doing things that involve people/creatures inside & outside at the same time. So far I've been able to limit this by how I set the adventures up, and by leaving some room on the interior masterboard for porches, wells, etc. so we can do that to some degree. Hope this helps.

A small thing, but something I'd really love to see.

Shutters.  Optional, attachable shutters for windows that can be glued on half-open.

The really useful thing would be the same package but all ruined. This would be real helpfull to have a before and after - Take most movies upon which the village are forced to flee while raiders burn the village to the ground, then they return to find everything and nothing. The buildings are the same shape but look different.
This also applies to the Interior Works - maybe a sub-expansion.
The other usful thing would be a chuch or "ChuchWorks" , this could be used for modern, horror and or fantasy.

yes, something like "Churchworks", that allows for some larger stone or stone & timber buildings. I don't know if "Castleworks Ultimate" will have some models like this, but about the only thing I find missing is the ability to make some larger, more impressive buildings. Some can be made out of the Village works units, but not stone ones, and few of the roofs work well for such models. I did do an "L" shaped building with a modified roof to use as an Inn in my campaign, but having more versatilitiy and ability to create larger buildings wouldbe great. And maybe artwork of common themes for fantasy churches, such as sungod, wargod, moon goddess, water gods, etc.

Rhydur_Meith, did you perchance get a look at the cathedral I created for the Your World Your Way contest?  It is quite possible, with some care, to make Interiorworks work for Exteriors of buildings as well.
