Hi,

My first ever paper model - The Chronometer.

I have all of the opposable thumb dexterity of Flipper…wearing mittens. In addition to this the very thought of fiddly things that can go wrong leaves a feeling of anxious dread in my gut. All good reasons to have a go at a hobby where the worst that can happen is you have to print out another sheet of models.

(Well, actually the worst that could happen is that you drop your glue in the printer and it somehow catches fire, sets off all your paper models in a blazing inferno that will entertain passing motorists for miles around.)

I've built it as the dice tower, but used the roof and steeples from the Clock Tower for when it's not in use. So, here it is...

I may have another go at attaching the dice catcher. My printer settings made the slots very dark, so that could have gone better. No real problems though. It took a few minutes to work out the best way to glue the upper ramp & dice tower (and an additional minute for me to realise the upper ramp wasn't a roof).

Once I had it all cut out in front of me and got to play with it, the guide (already good) really helped out.

The whole thing is pretty sturdy (and I've dropped it a couple of times already). The clockface is impressive printed off.

Nicely done, especially for a first build. Glad to see that you edged. That is probably the most common mistake first-timers make. They think they can go back to do it later. Can't wait to see more pics from you.

But really, the worst thing that can go wrong is dropping a heavy utility cutter into the top of your foot after slashing a finger...

Cool build. (Think that's the first non-dev team build of the Clocktower we've seen.)

What's next? Or do we have to wait till your thumbs are out of therapy to find out?
