I have a whole bunch of Canal tiles built, but I never really thought about multi-level builds. I'm just now getting around to retro-fitting anchors on all of my Forest and Streets tiles, and I thought I'd do the Canal tiles too. I can't seem to find any anchors with the set. I would imagine the Streets anchors would do for a lot of pieces, but what about the water tiles? The promo pics show docks built out over water tiles. Are the posts just resting on the tiles? I would buy the argument that they aren't totally necessary, but if they don't exist, I might go and make some up just so my tiles are consistent. Curse you, OCD!

I am pretty certain that the posts just rest on the tiles in those shots and are not attached.

That's my understanding, too.

If you're wanting buildings that rise straight out of the water, you could do this by placing a building tile right alongside the water tile and then assembling up from the anchors on the building tile. Depending on the layout, you might want to kitbash some 6x3 and 3x3 water tiles to allow more shape to the building.

I wasn't thinking so much about buildings in the water, as I was about docks that might be built over the water. I'd like to see the water tiles underneath. I figured the posts would just rest on the tiles, but I might still consider making anchors for those tiles anyway, just to quiet the part of me that likes consistency.

I did put together some hallway tiles for the Canals a while ago, but no 3" tiles...

I was going to do some work on this. I wanted a bridge over water, with about 2" space between the water and the surface of the bridge. I was thinking of using the water texture from the Maiden, but I haven't looked at anything just yet.

Forgot about those. It will be great when the Kitbash channel is up and running again.


The maiden water texture is nice ... and it's been seriously outclassed by WWG's newer water textures. Mayhem Marina was the first major upgrade to the water textures (great for open water), followed by the Himmelveil Canals (great for inland/close-inshore water).

Just looked at Canals and made up a 3x6 with anchors. Will post it tomorrow and see if you guys think it is worthy of submitting.

(There must be a sizable backlog pent up behind the kitbash channel gates. Someone's goign to be mighty busy processing these when that gets running again.

I am going to put together some canal pieces to showcase this. Right in the middle of playing with a small Friar build, but this should be fairly easy.

I currently have 2 3x6" tiles. One that is all open water and one bashed from the harbor_side tile, which has a very narrow band of stone along one side. Debating if 3"x3" would be useful. How about a 3"x6" version of canal_straight1_6inch?

It would all be good - somewhere somewhen someone is going to say: "Gee, I wish someone had made a kitbash of this..."
