I am trying to figure out how much work it would be to do this using the terrainlinx products. So far from what I see I would l have to make 96 6"x6" tiles to form the table. 12 to get the six foot side, 8 to get the four foot side and multiplying them makes 96 tiles to create the table. This is before adding anchors and such for terrain. If I tackle this project it's definitely going to be long term.

If you really plan to cover a whole 6x4 table wih tiles, keep in mind that you would probably also need additional tiles for higher structures and more terrain variety, so 96 would only be the bare minimum

I strongly suggest using as many "master-boards" as possible, i.e. multiple tile textures glued to the same foamcore board. Works well for long streets and such. Also keep in mind that it will take a long time to set up. I covered a whole 4x4 table with tiles without any "master-boards" and used TLX tabs only around the outer tiles to keep everything in place.

Actually I think I might have found a way to get around producing that many tiles. It goes along with your master board idea but I won't have to use 6 inch tiles.

That's what he's saying with 'masterboard', you can make 12"x12", or 18"x18" sections rather than the 6"x6" ones, making it faster to lay out when you need, just leave some of the cut outs so that you can still join them together for stability.

Oh and here I thought my idea was going to be unique. Thanks for the clarification though. I kind of thought that's what he meant but I wasn't sure. My plan is to create six 2'x2' sections if possible.

Yeah that was what I meant, I only used the term master board for lack of another word. A masterboard obviously is a complete board with pre-fixed tiles, but as has been explained above I was trying to refer to smaller boards in multiples of 3x3 inches

That is how I built my Mar Station 6x4 board and how I am building a Swampworks board. I am currently building a large 8x4 destroyed city board using straight TLX, using about 254 tiles. I am only doing it this way to provide maximum versatility for the commissioner.

I'm 4 days into creating a game map for DeadFall, my very first WWG project not nearly as ambitious as yours and I can already see how elaborate a terrain setting of this scope can be. My layout is 36"x48" and I'm documenting the process with progress photos and a running journal logging costs and man-hours invested... so far I've spraymounted all my plain paper cutting templates to 4 sheets of 20"x30" foamcore and it's obvious I'm going to need a 5th sheet just for the connectors; I've logged 6 hours and $52.75 USD so far, I'm guessing my cost won't go above $65.00 unless I run out of printer ink.

I recommend you get the 30x40 sheets, you save money in the long run with those. A bit harder to work with do to size though.

Be glad you started with spray mounting I... didn't, and I think that wasted a lot of time for me. But I definitely second the larger sheets of foamcore- worst case you can just slice them in half when you get them, but where I am the small sheets are about 75% of the price of large sheets.
