I wanted to run a campaign that would use my hinterland build. I eventually went with pathfinders 'Kingmaker' and that has been going really well. Thank you to everybody who offered advice.

We played again last night. This was a smaller set up for two fights.





Our game puts a lot of emphasis on cover and lines of sight so it really helps the game to have it actually built.

Do you use the booze bottles to block line of sight also?

Not normally. As they contain cold booze the condensation could damage my pager craft. Everything else on the table is fair game and we have all used dice, pens, pencils etc to make a point.

Good luck with your kingmaker campaign. I might need to warn for spoilers before posting my next pictures. So far 90% of the fights have been wondering monsters set up on random terrain. We roll a d10 and which ever way the dice points is the direction the PCs enter the area.

After I finish my next project (Mars Station), I'll have to copy some build ideas from this. It looks like you have alternate cliff-tops which you laid on top of the ones your originally printed - cool!

Looks great! I think that I recognize the encounter, too. (Won't say which one, but that stretch of river looks familiar....)

Kingmaker is an excellent choice for Hinterlands - the only other one that is as close a fit is, I think, Rite Publishing's Tales of the Old Margreve (thanks to UHF for that suggestion). And it is not hard to integrate Margreve with Kingmaker. Not hard at all....

But then I like the fey haunted rural....

This may well be the best Hinterlands build I have seen in a very long time.

I missed it too but I've been extraordinarily busy as of late.

Most of the fights are random encounters or don't need a lot of set up outside of generic outdoors terrain. I have not quite figured out how I am doing the big fight at the end (old fort).

I did build a set of master boards, I really like it if I can put some on the second level it seems to make everything more stable and neat.

The idea of using a master board kind of hit me too. My inn does not really line up well to pull off sections of the second and third floors individually, so I am building a master board for all three floors. This inn is a center piece for my game and if I just keep the three master boards off to the side I can build the inn any time I need, otherwise those walls and stuff can be used in other builds.

Love your work! Some of the best large terrain boards I've seen.

I really need to avoid looking at this thread 'cuz our 3rd session (only once a month) of Kingmaker will be meeting at my house on Saturday.

I play in a group where myself and one of the other guys swap the GM role. We each are running different campaigns. Currently he is running Second Darkness and I am running Serpent Skull. He has already declared that he may very well run Kingmaker after SD is finished. I am SO excited about that.

As for the terrain for the Stag Lord's Fort...let me see what I can come up with in TLX.

Stunning work! Really, really nice. I'm very impressed with the set up. You must find having that amount of wilderness terrain incredibly useful.

Just a quick question; which trees did you use? The simple ones?
