... and we still have a "no unapproved kitbash" policy. Opening that up to us might save this place. As it is, if it werent for TCP, I stopped wanting to contribute kitbashes here a long time ago.

time for some new blood

Yeah, I don't think WWG trains anyone. People get the nod probably from the kit bashes they have done and the relationship they have built up over the past. I know there are people who frequent this board and who have displayed the talent and sticktoitiveness needed to bring a set to life. Don't know if Denny of the crew over there have the time right now to bring anyone aboard right now. Matt might have some time to help in this regard, but I don't know how much weight he carries in regard to bringing on-board new talent, we know well he can create sets. Patience is a virtue I hear.

I will continue to do whatever it is I do, submitting kitbashes and floating ideas around here. I would like to encourage more people to try their hands at kitbashing. I would love to see more stuff get submitted (and hopefully accepted). I'm online for most of the day and evenings too, so I'm always around to chat ("mproteau" on AIM and now Steam) if anyone would like to give it a go but would like some pointers on where to start, or if you want to collaborate, or whatever. I've been through quite a bit of ups and downs with the kitbashing process, and have a pretty good feel for what's "good enough" and what is likely to make the judges rightfully hold their noses.

In the mean time, I've got more side projects than free time, but I continue to plod along. In the near future, I'll submit more half-height walls and gable variants for other sets. The hardest part is often just taking a good enough photo for the storefront! I've got some other ideas to work out, and hope to continue to get things pushed through the pipeline.

Stay positive, folks. Yeah, things have slowed down, but it ain't dead yet. I appreciate hearing the support for the folks that try kitbashing, and will be super supportive to anyone in any way I can if you'd like to try to join in the effort!

@mrcaptainpants - I use GIMP. There's a TON about it I am clueless on, but I've become pretty fluent in enough of the basics to be dangerous. I've tried over the years to really embrace the free software available for Windows. I have a buddy working at Adobe and he said I was crazy not to have him get me a cheap copy of Photoshop. Maybe I am crazy, but the folks who make GIMP aren't trying to drag me into a subscription model for their software. That, and I have a professional gripe with Adobe, but I digress...

GIMP. There's also a fantastic free electronic GIMP magazine. Three issues so far. Fun to poke through and get inspiration.

I use Photoshop to make make or modify basic art .I have a large textures files indoor and out door file folder's then windows, doors floors, walls and roofs .. then I use model builder or Microsoft publisher to make a project . I made all sorts of templets in publisher to speed thing up , Model builder lets you pick a scale then it sizes everything to that scale which is real helpful if I am not in 25mm scale

I use GIMP> I am in the same place mproteau is. Know enough to be dangerous, but I know I am not scratching the surface.

This is good; a breath of fresh hope provided by the kitbashers and the folks selecting the bashes. We do need to contribute if possible.
I'll have to take a look at the rules for Kitbashes to see just how flexible they are or are not.

I just finished reading those and some very long debates between some
people who were questioning the rules. One was a kitbasher that
I have a great deal of respect for. I did not like the tenor of the respones he and others got.

It distubed me to the point I really no longer care to support WWG.

I'm mostly sad that it seems like there won't be any more TerraClips sets.

So where are these tips and tutorials? As for my skills, they are non existent. But, one never knows, that could change if other things change. The TLX stuff just rocks and I can imagine one day I might like to make something not currently offered by WWG. If I was able to I might take a crack at kit bashing, even if only for my own needs. Who knows, I could possibly become good enough to share.

Another thought, how does one make the graphics used in these sets? Do you have to create them one pixel at a time, use photographs, what?

Holy crap! And I just put who do this stuff on a pedestal. There is so much more here than I even imagined.

Anyway, I bookmarked this an will hopefully come back to square my shoulders with this monster. Holy crap!

I don't begrudge Denny and Chris their opportunity to do different things in the slightest. Best of luck to them.

I was keenly awaiting the other Shellendrak TLX wing. Ditto the Friar's Stables. I always hankered after another Wormhole release as well, but knew that was a longshot. Pharoh's Descent is bit niche for me, but I am going to pick it up anyway as Matt is a star and deserves my support.

I used to check in here daily. Then it moved to weekly. Now it's monthly. As many others have done the same, my inspiration to build has declined and hence an ever decreasing spiral sets in. The best way to reverse this trend is a steady flood of new releases. This doesn't seem likely at the moment.

So despite being happy for Chris and Denny (and all the other WWG designers who have moved on), I am extremely disappointed to see what used to be a really vibrant happy place that gave me many good memories starting to gather dust.

It's a shame, but every dog has it's day I suppose.

Well, I may or may not purchase this last set. It is a great set, but not really something set in Westros where I am currently running, and kind of have always run before. Still, the set does have item I might be able to use after I get out of this financial hole I find myself in.

Since I am backlogged on my currently owned sets I just am not going to complain about no new sets on the horizon. I am going to continue to hope Tomas does find it in him to finish up the Stables set, but I understand life is not always a bowl full of new sets. Time will provide new ones, or not, I have very little input in the outcome of this, so, I will leave this issue to the Paper Craft gods that be.

Also, thanks to all of you who have bashed up new stuff to hold us over the drought. My gratitude.
