I built a few of the docs from Skull Cove. They were much simpler than I thought they would be, and look very, very good. I also built the movable crane (high props to Paul for this one), which was also quite simple, and built the rolling platform from Sieges (which was not as easy, by any stretch).

I also recently finished up four vikingish long boats, and I'm debating whether to do another two. I've found the Skull Cove boats are much easier to put together with super-glue gel.

Well, no one else seems to be building anything else, either! Or, they're just being secretive!

Decided on an inn size: 1.5' x 2': Same size as the Pro FeltMasterLinX tiles I made. Coincidence? Nope!

I'm going to make all the inn tiles in the MiniChunk style, with tiles of foamcore and velcro, for modular inns. I've decided on a basic layout for the ground floor, too.



The lines on the floor are the size of tiles I'll need to make the floor tiles link the PFML tiles together (that's why I can't just use 12 of the 6" x 6" tiles). I modified the floor tile file to be in various sizes (making sure to keep the boards running the same way), and just finished printing them all out.

Ran out of ink half way through, but I knew it was coming, so I had a backup cart ready.

Also printed a bunch of walls to surround the place, stage curtains (I'm going to make them able to slide open & shut), more beds, more tables (bleh.), doors & windows, fireplaces, and toilets *shudder*.

Hopefully I'll be able to make some real progress with this thing over the next week. I just have this feeling, though, that from the moment it's complete, we won't need an inn for months.

I'm still slugging away at the prison. Actually started laying it out also to see just where I'm at and how much further I've got to go.

I was really surprised that my wife didn't have a problem with me setting up the conference table in the living room and leaving it set up. Now if I can just keep the cat and kids away from the model, I should be finished by the end of the week.

Took some pictures of it last night before heading to bed, which I'll put online tonight when I get home, before getting back to work building more walls!

Good thing I set it up though, realized I was missing 3 3x6 links tiles, 1 6x6 links tile and 3 wall tile bases. Have them printed, just didn't put them on foamcore. That's my second task for the night before I get to work on the walls!

I use to do my floorplans for Gothic Realms, and Interior Works. I wish there was more life in that program, but I fear that it has fallen by the wayside. (I was almost as talkative on their forum as I am here...) I assume a 5'/square scale.

And if anybody thinks that I exagerate how bad I am with graphics programs take a look at my tiles in the customs area of their web site. I am not the worst, but far from the best.

The Auld Grump

I've been using Dundjinni myself. My only problem with Dundjinni is the lengths that they want you to go to post maps on your own website. I understand their point that it's their art you're using if you are just using the basic art that comes with the program, but just putting a copyright notice on the bottom of the page isn't really enough for them.

You're supposed to do quite a bit to let people know that it's a map built using their software. While I have no problem with people protecting their intellectual property, I just think they're going to extremes to insure no one is stealing their product, which I'm sure is still happening.

I would say as long as you aren't selling any maps created with their product, using their art, and that you notify someone that you used their product with a copyright notice somewhere on the page, that should be enough.

I have to look at their TOS again to make sure I'm in compliance though, wouldn't want them to sue me just because I want to put some maps on my site that I've made with their product.

I'll look at Dungeon Crafter 2 again. I'm sure I looked at it before, but it looks like they've updated the program since the last time I looked.

I just make the layouts in AppleWorks. It's easy for me, and takes very little time.

Today, I kitbashed the sliding curtains, and made a 2nd 3D liquor cabinet.

I'm also experimenting with spray adhesive. I got some Duro All-Purpose, and I tried it with a couple of the Inn's floor tiles. So we'll se how well that works sometime later tonight.

*ack!* Re-read the label just now, and realized I almost forgot to clear the nozzle! *phew*
