I'd love to have even a quarter of the mad painting skills those crazy French have. The few guys whom they have paint up their(Rackham)minis are amazing. I've not seen that amount of multicolor blending on any other line of 28/30mm models. And their stuff has jsut the right amount of charicature vs. realistic proportion to make them really stand out on the battlefield.

And their artwork is outstanding, The only one I've seen whom are better (overall) than the usual Codex art from GW. Mike Gibson, Wayne England & co. Not John Blanche.(he's a good concept man, but I do not really care for his finished pieces)

Hybrids rules are more akin to (but not the same as) GW:40k WHFB in terms of shooting/attacks than how Doom TBG's mechanics work. And the expansion adds an element of RPG as you can build up your stats over time.

They(Rackham) release a bi-monthly magazine (CryHavoc) I think it's up to issue#3. And it contains new mission for Hybrid. Plus stuff for their other games Rag'Narok and Confrontation, and some interesting Fiction.

BTW Hybrid was actually designed by a (now)Defunct Swiss company. They were the ones whom made Ronin(an arena type MechaCombat system that had some really cool models that used magnetic markers placed on the body to show damage).

Anyone with a good graphics app & Doom III on their computer can go to town with the Textures from that game. And apply some to WWG's FirstLight prop templates or creations of their own to come up with some good kitbash props, etc.

I just pulled the expansion kit for First Light, and Paul did very bright things in the design to make kit bashing easy.

You could easily make a Doom set without TOO much trouble. You can cut down a corridor end to a 1x2 dead end with no problem. Most of the rest of the pieces you would need are in the two kits.

There are two tricky bits:

1. If a room does NOT have an alcove, you might want some wall sections that can fit in to cover the hole. The corridor tile include a 2" wide dead end with flaps, and there are some nice clips in the expansion set that could be used to hold it together. So that isn't hard.

2. For the alcove 1x2 section, it might be a little prone to falling over. A 90-degree corner version of the above paper clips would be REALLY useful.

I've played 9 games of Shadows Over Camelot so far, and the game is just great. It has a ton of litlte niggling errors that bother me when I think about them, but they just vanish while actually playing the game.

The minis are some of the nicer plastics I've seen, as there is a lot of detail, and no warping in any of the pieces in my game. There isn't even much flash. This is most obvious from the Excalibur mini. (Which has the hand of a watery tart holding up a sword, that is quite delicate in detail.) The plastic *IS* very flexible, and some of the details like excalibur might have problems with cheap paints flaking off.

I have the book Art of Doom III, it has alot of stills, concepts and room set ups. I am currently exploring the texture sets used for the game. I'm Looking to make some kitbashed RetroFit stuff for the game. Namely items to represent the blocking terrain(Computer consoles, collapsed ceilings and such)

Yes, that does make the 'having a few beers and munchies while crouching over a table playing an excellent boardgame' evening rather difficult to organise (as if it isn't hard eough to fit into busy lives already)! The only way I've been able to get a regular game in is to play squash with a good friend of mine once a week and then play a game later. Body AND mind exercised!

According to the credits from both the Hybrid and Nemesis (the first expansion) rulebooks the tile art was done by Nicolas Fructus.

The creator of the so-called "Christmasboard" for Hybrid is unknown, but there are strong rumors that it was done by someone working for Rackham, most likely Nicolas Fructus again.
