I used to scatch-build exclusivly before discovering Worldworks converted me to cardstock, and I used to use foamcore as my primary building material.

The first application of WW I did was on an inn and a house that used scratch-built exteriors and Pubs & Inns and Castles & Keeps textures for the inside walls, which I made from foamcore.

What an outstanding build, very well done. Inspiring it is and me with a few props that need using too.

Matboard is really nice, but is more expensive than foamcore. Course, I've never seen matboard warp, which I can't say the same for foamcore.

Mostly what I use foamcore for is the base of all of my WWG models. I guess you could use it to strengthen the walls, but for the most part, it works fine with just the foamcore as the base!

Yeah before i found things like Mel and WWG, i used to do some scratch built Foamcoare stuff, and use it now to add strenght to some of the props and what not, even at times in the chunky sets to give it some weight and sturdyness.

Haven't tried it with any of the non chunky yet, my only concern would be the thicjness of a wall etc would be in game terms VERY thick, i have found just adding an extra layer of cardstock paper in the walls really does a decent job of adding strength with out the need to go into the thickness if the Foam core (and for me i use the left over bits from the printed pages, so i don't feel like i am wasting the paper that way, the trash bits get used.)

I have to say i do love the wall thickness you get from using foamcore or matboard. My main problem with it is edging that thickness. WWWhen I have a nice thick brick wall, i keep wishing for some brick texture on top of that wall as well. And whereas it's entirely feasible to glue a thin strip of brick texture to the sides of the foamcore, that's just a little too fiddly for me to put up with...
