So what range of scales would be most useful for you guys?

Only a few scales I can think of for ships:

28mm for RPGs (covered)

WizKids Pirates Game

1/350 (a model size)

1/700 (a model size)

1/1200 (a gaming size)

Hmmm, I play Fire As She Bears in 1/2000 minis from Valiant Miniatures - the Santisima Trinidad 130 is a little over an inch long. I havent seen the Figurehead 1/3000 yet. Many do still use the 1/1200, but the smaller ones are easier to paint up - less detail = less painting. And with the way my ships were handeled during my recent Trafalgar game, I dont think I would want ships costing more than twice as much. 10 ships currently in the repair yard. HMS Africa was nearly dismasted by an errant clipboard. We talked of keelhauling using my Ford Focus. At least in FASB, the game scale is 1/2400. so 1/2000 is just about the closest line of minis available.
