For ink printing, you got me. I tried a few spray things, and didn't get any tolerable results. Most made the model just look worse.



Laser printing resists water nicely, though (at least small amounts).

I've been thinking about this since I read the thread, but am at a loss as to what you could use to stop it. It takes me back to using some kind of clear coat spray, but that might create the same problem that water does. I'm fortunate with my printer that the ink doesn't run for the most part. You pretty much have to soak the paper in water to get it running, which generally destroys the model anyway.

This is the same kind of problem we faced when trying to add some kind of a snow effect to the buildings. Of course, since I have a lack of trouble with ink runs, most any kind of experimentation I try won't have the same effect as others.

The contact paper is a good idea, but would add quite a bit of construction time if you're doing it on anything but masterboards. I'd say try some kind of clear coat spray, following the instructions on the can or even moving the can further away and building up the coats gradually until the model is protected.

Well I use this stuff call liquid puzzle saver, I've only used it on my masterboard so far with no problems with it bleeding or destroying of the ink or paper. I also tested it for water proofing and you have plenty of time to wipe any and all spills . Hope this info will help ya

Clear Contact Paper will work, however you will need to apply it to the uncut sheets, smooth it out, then cut out your models. It is not terribly difficult to use, but it will prove challenging to your model-making skills, as the card stock will be much thicker, and heavier.

You could try the spray-on form of Plasti-Dip, or the Rustoleum version of it (found in hardware stores, or Wal-Mart's house paint section). This stuff is not water-based, but rather a polyurethane substance. It retails for around US$8 per can. Cheers!
