Hi there, I used to be around here a lot but got busy with more boring things like work/family/work... mostly work.

I want to take my PDF's to a local commercial printer I've become friends with who will do a run for me for free.

Since he's doing me a favor I want to keep this simple... has anyone else done this? Do you have any recommendations on how to make it go smoothly? Or is it as easy as burning a CD of the PDFs and telling him how many of what pages to print?

Are there any other problems I should know about? From what I read, elsewhere, the quality of 600 DPI digital color is awesome and I think that's the only way I'm going to get the Maiden done in my life time... even with refills (this is not the fault of the set but my lack of patience for my P.O.S. inkjet printer).

Also.... just a note to say that WWG and the Streets of Mayhem actually got me INTO D20 Modern... (I don't own the sets yet but I played at a store and saw them live) wow... I thought this was just limted to Fantasy but this really works well for modern adventures and they are just as much fun as swords and sorcery.

I've had a lot of my stuff done at a professional printer, including CWU and both of my Maidens. It looks AWESOME.

I have a Pro version of Adobe Acrobat, so rather than telling him what pages I wanted printed (which is a massive pain for him), I just made a file for him to print that included only the pages to print. And, if I wanted dupes of a page, I included that page multiple times. This made it really easy for him to do the job, and it made it easier for me to be sure of exactly what I was getting.

I don't think 600 DPI is going to do you any good over 300 DPI, since the files are done in max of 300 anyways (and many/most are 200 DPI).

If he has it, you might consider asking your printer to use 80 lb cover stock, instead of cardstock. Its a little stiffer (just a tad), and usually comes in a finish that holds the color just a little nicer.

Oh yeah - one thing you'll notice with the commercial run (when you start to build) is that the ink won't stain your fingers.

Have you tried glue compatibility tests? For example, super glue gels make a goopy mess of laser prints.
