While I know it's expensive to have a stall at conventions, I see other cardstock companies at the gaming conventions I go to. Next week is GenCon Indy, the biggest gaming convention in the world (to my knowledge). I know it's too late now, but perhaps in the future, WWG could think about attending the big conventions to get their name better known.

I found out about a certain other company at GenCon Indy last year, and through them, I found RPGNow.com, which then led me to WWG.

While I wouldn't want to take you guys away from developing new products, the increases in sales from a convention could really help you guys out. Of course, I'm not sure what you would sell exactly... perhaps CD's, perhaps pre-printed models... t-shirts *shrug*

Anyway, I just wanted to voice the idea. I know it would be a long trip, but it's a huge opportunity.

Origins in Columbus, OH, would also rank way up there - the list of games they host looks like the recent Sears Christmas Book for RPGrs and wargamers. Havent had the chance to go yet, but I understand they are one of the biggest shows around. Not sure if it is bigger then GenCon or not. If a rep would set up a booth and also run one of the modules using WWG product, it would certainly help get the word out in a big way. I'm sure one of us could always find a sofa bed or futon for somebody to stay on while in the area for the con.

Origins is a big con, but it is only about 50%-60% of the size of GenCon. Origins tends to be very industry focused, it is as much about the companies looking at eash others stuff as it is about gaming. It is also where the awards are presented (GAMA runs Origins).

DragonCon in Atlanta GA is another big gaming con. It rivals GenCon in size and visibility.

As a side note, to anyone with a small game/accessory company or store, GAMA membership is worth looking into. There are many benefits, including discount on booth space at some conventions, advertising deals, and option to join their health insurance plan. I don't know if all of the benefits are available to Canadian companies, but it would be worth a look.

Origins and DragonCon are definitly two other large cons to keep in mind. I was only mentioning GenCon Indy since it's next week. I've never been to Origins as I can only afford one major Con a year, and GenCon wins everytime.

DragonCon is big, and well known, but it's not nearly as well known intenationally as GenCon. Still, it is a major convention and worth having a presence at.

I checked the GenCon list of Exhibitors and Aberrant Games is indeed in attendance so I'm very happy to hear that WWG will get some publicity through them.

I just wanted to bump this message to see if Denny and Paul (or any others) plan to make the trip to GenCon Indy in August? I know it's a way off yet, but now is the time to plan and reserve space.

I still feel it'd be very cool for people to be able to meet Denny and co. and see some of the terrain on display. CD's of the terrain could be sold...

I know Rezolution is planning to have a much bigger precence this year and they will be using WWG terrain again, but it seems like WWG should be there as it's own entity. Perhaps Mel Ebbles could share a stand in the Exhibitor hall? That would reduce costs for all involved, while complementing each others cardstock...

I'll be doing a few games at the HMGS-Great Lakes con, Advance the Colors, in September, held at the city historical center in Springfield, OH, and I am still thinking about running a session to demonstrate building some WWG products, but in another thread I still havent gotten an official word on what I could use as the subject matter. I thought something simple like a single structure from Villageworks, and maybe a Trebuchet for any advanced builders that might sign up. Since I perceive this to fall into file sharing, I was looking for the official word that it is okay. I plan to print out the models and provide cutting mats, glue and x-acto knives for 5 or 6 people. Any suggestions?

That sounds like a great idea.

I know the Crypt from VillageWorks used to be free as a sample before the website redesign... perhaps Denny will permit that, or another model to be used.

I was just approached this past week by someone who sets up events for KublaCon. I was asked If I wanted to run a 1 hour session on card stock models.... specifically WWG models. I have not yet decided if I can do this or not. (Time and material issues mostly.) If any of the NoCal WWG'ers are interested please let me know and I can get you in touch with the KublaCon folks. I still may commit to doing this, I just need to find time to do it right and not half assed. The Aberrant guys should be at KublaCon. I meet them there last year.

What is your view on printing out WWG stock (a limited amount), to run a demo table at a Con?

I wasn't talking about PAX, but unfortunately, both PAX and DragonFlight are the same weekend... and a short walk from each other... so I'll probably be flitting back and forth between them myself.

I think DragonFlight would be better suited for WWG though as PAX has a greater focus on computer and console gaming.
