I realize we already have a few comments in the last PCON thread but I wanted to start an official release thread. More importantly I wanted to offer Matt Lyon (PCON's creator) a great big CONGRATULATIONS! Once again Matt has created a really incredible model set that sticks to WorldWorks main production ideologies. It's big, it's modular, it's detailed, it's original and it is quality through and through! Great job Matt and thank you for all the blood, sweat and tears.

I'm sure 'Platform Command: Operation Nightwatch' will bring many smiles to Wargamers far and wide. The great thing about the model set is it's flexibility and I can see both Wargamers and RPG'rs doing some incredible things with it. Can't wait to see the user created builds!

I wasn't too sure about this set, but it grew on me enough to buy it (pesky hype machine) and I am very pleasantly surprised. This truely is the most modular set I've purchased so far, and the ideas are popping up like there is no tomorrow. I don't know how many of these ideas will actually get built, but it's great that the set shows so many possibilities right out of the box.

There are a couple of items that it's a real shame are not in the set though.
We have a full walkway over slime tile, but not one for molten metal.
We have a broken walkway over molten metal tile, but not one for slime.
We have a broken generator in black, but not in red or blue.

Very minor issues, but it just seems weird to not have them. I know there are workarounds like adding a footbridge across a straight slime tile, but I wanted to mention these things in case they were accidently left off (wishful thinking).

Anyway, the set is amazing, so congratulations to Matt. You continue to churn out superb sets and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Hmm, oh well, it was worth a try. I might try to build the bridge kitbash, and then rip out the middle... but trying to emulate your textures is impossible. If I could do that, I'd be trying to sell my own sets through WWG

I have to ask... getting back to the broken bridge and full bridge over slime and molten metal. As the designer, I'm sure you have multiple layered files in Photoshop, and it's most likely that for you, you could simply turn off the slime layer, turn on the molten metal layer, and it would be done for the full bridge... obviosly the other way around the for the broken bridge.

My point was that this kind of editing is easy for you, but difficult/impossible for us, and it's not something that I'd consider to be a kitbash. If there was no broken bridge tile, I wouldn't have thought about trying to use it... but not having it for slime makes it feel like it is missing.

Anyway, I had to get that off my chest. I'm not slamming the set as it is a great set... I'd just like some response other than for me to kitbash it. As I mentioned before, if I could do textures to that standard, I wouldn't be buying cardstock, I'd be selling it.

Man I am totally digging this set. I've printed atleast 1 of everything. And multiples for 2 of the 3 kitbashes.

Anyway, I do have a small problem... what to do with the floor tiles.
I don't want to do a masterboard. I prefer modularity. So I've got lots of tiles printed () but I am unsure of how I want to keep them together. There is no PaperLynx versions of the tile sets provided.

Although I could just as easily make my own. I am considering doing the Kane Lynx versions.

But I was wondering if anyone has come up with a simpler or more elegant solution to keeping the tiles locked together without resorting to a pre-glued master board. Pro-Master board? (I think Aleph does some sort of modified version of the ProMB from Chunky D for some of his other sets).

Ok, how did you do that with the bridge over the molten metal?!? More importantly, since I cannot do it, and Matt doesn't seem willing to add it as a patch, will you submit it as a kitbash so I can pay more money please?

I have the same problem with tiles though, and haven't come up with a solution yet. If you find one, let us know. I am contemplating trying to create some sort of wooden frame for a 5x5 tile grid, but a frame that comes apart for storage. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be cool.

I printed off everything I could before I ran out of cardstock... have built a few things so far, and am working on a couple of additional kitbashes of my own. The set is very cool...

Heh, well the one I really want is the broken bridge over the slime... and I'm hoping Fl0dyski will have another spare 20 minutes some time to whip that up.

I've done a grided version for the Molten Lava Bridge as well.

I could do a Broken Slime Bridge. Though if you are meaning the one from the Lava tile it will take a little more time than 20minutes . And as long as you don't mind the fact that it looks more like a melted bridge than a broken bridge. (But perhaps the green stuff is highly corrosive acid? ((or)) Perhaps I'll try giving it a collapsed bridge.)

ps. Any other liquid related tiles needed? I hand't really given much thought to it past the obvious need for a bridge over the molten lead. (Maybe some alternate colors to match the drain pipes? Blue, Purple, Hot pink? Yellow?)

Going off a bit here, but you know what would be fun? A 3d sewer conversion similar to what Gothic Realms has. But then use a transparency (like those used in Castle Works Ultimate's moat.).... ok I'll shut up now.

For me, I'm using the slime as some sort of acid... or partially processed radioactive fluids (lots of rad-pits in Mega-City One), so melted is fine, but I a collapsed bridge would work just as well. The main thing is to have a 2" gap for people to attempt to jump.

Anyone have any ideas on the tiles locking system?

I was/am leaning twards the KaneLynx system for interlocking tiles. But I also like the idea of a bordering that could be locked into place. I wonder how sturdy a 5X6 tile layout would be held together by interlocking 2"wide strips of foamcore border. It is not like it has to withstand an earthquake, but rather just keep the tiles butted together.

Blades would scare me, but the idea in general is a good one. What about inserting matchsticks or cocktail sticks into the foamcore? If it was a 2" long cocktail stick, insert two on each side as needed, about 1x5" from each edge, and only halfway into the foamcore tile, then slide the neighbouring tile into place.

I think I'll pick up some cocktail sticks this weekend to try it out.
