Should I rename this post to the Western Front?

I must ask for those outside of the US/Canada is there a big need/want of Western stuff out there. I mean if you live in North America (the three countries on that landmas) the whole Western culture is very much apart of your live and histroy, however how "cool" is it once you leave the shores?

I have a pasting like to the west. I would live to see a WWG -WW product don't get me wrong because I know it will have great kitbashablilty. I'm not 40+, I didn't grow up on old westerns - my dad did and others a tad younger did also but by my time it was gone.

Please note I'm not bashing the whole theme but trying to see if the love of the culture is like the love of an other period of time, that is you will always have people romanticising the period. We had bushrangers around that time which were very much like bankrobbers or cattle russelers (sp?), though quick a few were just anti-establishment (very strong British soldier presents then).

I guess I feel I don't know enough about the period to fully feel comfortable gaming in that time/setting. If there is a system that has the gist of the West feel free to give me a shout.

Well, I wasn't going to use the stuff to play in the Wild West. I was going to use 'em for Rim world settlements in the Serenity Verse.

That said, there *was* a run on cowboy/western figures at Salute last weekend. I know 'cos I usually got to the stands after the cool figures had sold out

Let me see I'm out of the USA (Spain) and I don't give a damm about "Western" history... I've readed a bit of real history to know that I want to play in the Real West as much as The USA people wanted to play a game about the "Reconquista de la Peninsula" (when the cristians take back the main land from the Musslims) I want to play the romantic version of the old Western...or the crazynes of the Deadland...or even something proxim to Serenity... I let the real ones for the miniature wargamers...not for RPG...And remember that a great deal of that Western myth is thanks to Spain (or Almeria where a great deal of Spagheti-Western where made...)

But as you say is not an historical likens as much a adventure period where to play...

Wow, everyone seems to be going crazy for the wild west. Personally, it doesn't interest me. Right now there are other companies out there that seem to do a good job for that particular style. There are a lot of games that make use of it. Certainly there is a market there to improve on what is already out there, but I would personally prefer to see WWG do more of the things that cannot be found anywhere else.

CapNG is doing wonders with the modern setting and I would love to see more in that vein... we still need a train! Not to mention a mall, a police station, etc. The Mayhem line has plenty of room for expansion.

If Paul is passionate about the Wild West, it would be interesting to see his interpretation of the Wild Wild West (steampunk crossover).

Oh well, just my opinion.

As a person who visited the "down under" and who's ex-boss (in which I thank Allah she is an ex-boss instead of deadboss, me in prison) is from downunder, there is a definate Western Theme in Aussie land as well. I've seen pics and visited ranches in Australia that look decidingly like "the old" west.

But then again, if you live in it, why build it

I want a wild west set from WWG because the competitor out there that makes one, sucks. Period. The textures are lame and there is no interiors. Printing them black and white and letting my Autistic son color them would make them better than printing the textures as is.

The quality and dedication that WWG puts into their stuff and the "photo-realistic" would be cool.


And besides, Deadlands is one of my all time favorite RPG's and I need terrain for it. so . And have a nice day.
