We had a similar discussion about using magnets with sheet metal. I've still been kicking around the idea, but the sharp edges of the sheet metal and weight have been a factor that has kept me from going very far with that idea. As far as the magnets are concerned, I was using the magnet tape or roll, can't remember the exact name.

You can purchase it from Michaels, and one side of the magnet strip has a glue surface on it, kind of like tape. There is a plastic film over the glue area and all you do is cut the size you want, peel the film off and stick on the magnet.

The way I was attaching it to my experimental pieces was removing the outer cardboard from the foam core to the size I wanted, and then pushing the magnet into the foam core. Because the foam core gives, it recesses down to be flush with the bottom edge of the foam core.

I'm going to have to look into using magnetic paint as I could build a table, cover the top with the paint and then be able to flop down scenery where ever!

The magnetic board sounds very promising! I'll have to check it out when I look at the magnetic paint idea. Both sound like really good ideas! Thanks for the info everyone!
