Denny and Bob need you!

Currently, we are in need of fantasy and sci-fi artists to illustrate modules that are very far along the development chain.

Denny's Note (Additional Details to Avoid Confusion): We are looking for competent, experienced, well rounded artists who have abilities in multiple illustrative styles and techniques. I would add that a secondary education dealing with fine arts, illustration and or design is a definite asset or at the very least some previously published works. A fundamental understanding of proportion, the human form, lighting and composition are essential traits. Anime, cutesy cartoon characters and disproportionate figures are NOT what we are looking for.

Our specific needs focus on illustrations in multi-genres and styles based in character design, scenics, object rendering, standees, cover art and more. We can look past some of those needs if portfolio samples are outstanding. Ideally we would like to see an online portfolio of work before we make any decisions.

Just to clarify and reinterate some of what Denny said, what we're principally looking for are artists who can provide cover/interior/standee artwork for the modules that we are developing.

I know it doesn't look like it, since we only have two modules out (both by me), but we actually have 5 different authors working at projects at various stages of development, and at present only two regular artists. Since it takes about as long to write a module as to illustrate it (at least, given current personel), you can easily see the problem this presents.

Personally, I would think that *none* of the artists mentioned by name so far would fit all that well.

Eric Hotz does indeed do some great work with "an old world feel to it", as he puts it. Reminiscent of medieval woodcuts and the like, but this seems very much out of line with current WWG styles.

Ray Keim seems to be primarily a CG modeler. I see a nice and , but I don't see much to indicate he could handle characters, natural scenes, etc.

As for Shane... well, let me be polite and just say that my tastes seem to differ significantly from Highland_Piper's


I *do* love the link to www.conceptart.org Sacretis posetd earlier - lots of excellent work there, and having such a large collection to browse through definitely is bound to make things easier.

I bet there are some other online collections of professional or semi-professional illustrators out there. This seems like a winning formula for an online artists collective, and I doubt Conceptart would be the only site.

To agree with what Conaill just said, we are looking for illustrators with talents in varying styles and multiple genres (illustrative, painterly, realism, line art/Fantasy, modern, sci-fi). Our current adventure modules are roughly the standard and style we are shooting for. As Bob again noted we are trying to fulfill materials for adventure module production (standees, Cover art, interior art) not model set design. Erics material is great for period specific art but it doesn't suit our needs in this case.

I placed an ad at Conceptart.org and we are currently being hammered with submissions. That one resource turned out to be just what we were looking for
