i am looking at all the WONDERFUL pics of the mayhem boards that you guys have done and i am wondering. what are you basing the tiel pieces on. my first guess is foam core. I have had some (not much ) luck with foamcore and a base for tile pices. i use the UHU glue and it seems to keep the warping down alot. i have yet to try sticker backed printing paper.
also is you table perminent on the set ups or all they all modular pices and if they are modular how are you keeping them together ??

I don't have any pics up, but I have plenty of based tiles, all on foamcore.

UHU is not the glue to use, though. Ick. Its good for smaller things, but not for entire tiles. I use spray glue exclusively for that kind of thing, specifically, 3M Super 77 Adhesive Spray. You can find it at most hobby stores as well as Home Depot and the like.

I base mine on Foamcore and I actually use UHU glue, but I spread it very thinly (using an old putty knife). Works quite well and no wrinkles or bubbles.

As far as modularity... I originally cutout where I wanted to put my buildings but that was a major pain the ass, if the building was not cut just right, it would not fit. So, I find a tile that will work without a building (like the wasteland tile, or a grasstile, SOMETHING) and put that down. Then the building will fit on top of it, and I can interchange them out.

I've been making the modular 7.5" x 7.5" tiles, usually with the paperlinx connections. I'm basing them on black foamcore and have been using a glue stick (Elmer's school glue). I've seen no warping and the tiles haven't peeled.

Just whatever you do, don't use a large amount of superglue gel.

I use black foam core (tho white would work, just mark the edges with a black marker ...) and I glue it down with the Elmer's purple glue stick--haven't had any problem.

Having just finished about 40 ground tiles for Mayhem, I have to say that by far the easiest method is to use double-sided tape........ *ducks* LOL

40 ground tiles completed in 2 evenings, and without any hassles from spilt glue, edge leaks, warping etc etc.

double-stick tape? Huh. I just went down to Michael's today and got some supplies including a big ol' can of 3M 77 spray adhesive, so I was planning on using that. Actually, I've already got the edging done and the pieces cut out, I just need to spray it and apply the tiles, but I had a question. Keep in mind I'm new at this, but the Mars Station Landing Pad has all these sections with big tabs on them. Should I cut the tabs off so that the spray adhesive contacts every sheet, or should I use the spray in combo with a glue stick on the tabs? This may be a knucklehead question, but I'm a newbie so I'm stumbling through this a bit. keeping the "77" off the edging should be an interesting challenge too. Thanks for any help out there.

Update: I cut the tabs off, sprayed the foamcore and applied the ground tiles. It worked fine as you experienced folks probably already know. Incidentally, since I'd already edged it and didn't want to get spray adhesive all over the edging, I masked it over with low-adhesive blue masking tape you'd use when painting a bedroom. It did pull off a bit of detail here and there, but not very much at all. My friends will probably never notice. And that's it for my first ground tile, a very kick-ass Landing Pad that will see action in a game of Rezolution tomorrow!
