Our next adventure took place in the depths of Castle Terkanian. The pictures I've posted actually don't reflect gameplay, they were taken afterward, I was too busy assembling to think to pull the camera out. During play I revealed each room as they discovered it. So to start all they saw were the curved walls and the entrance door. Next they saw the main chamber, and finally the vault itself when they found the secret switch.

The pictures show my use of magnets to hold my pieces to a magnetized white board, which worked beautifully. No bumps, and if people wanted a better angle or to see better, they just lifted the wall out of the way temporarily. The magnets were quick and easy to assemble and manipulate, without that annoying velcro sound. The only real issue I found was that the sticky that came on the magnet strips I bought didn't hold extremely well. I ended up going back and supergluing many of them, all future magnets will be superglued on from the start.

Next stop is beneath Parrot Isle. It'll require quite an expansion on my Minichunk set, this time with new tiles for the main rooms (an abandoned pirate's lair shouldn't have fancy tiles for a floor). Luckily with the holidays and other issues it looks like I'll have about a month to work on this next phase.

It also has some cave pieces, but I think I'll hold off on adding Caveworks until I've built the main portion of the lair.

Wow, Morgenes - from a beginner to an expert in a few short weeks. Another great layout.

I like the idea of the magnetic fasteners. Where do you get them and the board from and what sort of cost are we looking at (and then I'll double it for UK prices )

Thanks for the compliment! Dunno about expert, but I'm doing my best. I will say that doing the Sea Maiden first really made doing Minichunk easy!

The magnetic strip I purchased at AC Moore for $5 (US) for 25 ft. of 1/2" width and 1/8" thickness. I'm on AC Moore's email list and get a 40% off coupon every week, so I've been putting that to good use. The 24" by 48" whiteboard I found at my local Sam's Club (a warehouse store) for $13. I saw someone on here post about finding one at a local hardware store for $10.

When I start on my Skullcove build I plan on trying using a thin sheet of magnet as my backing board for my ground tiles. My AC Moore has a 24"x48" sheet of it available for $19.99. I plan on using a 40% off coupon on it.

The builds look nice.


I'm running STAP as well, i did a few of the same things you did in the vault, changing up the dimensions etc.

You running in Ebberron? Looks like you have some War-forged, is why i ask.

Thanks again guys. Minichunk does look great, and is fairly easy to put together. I started printing the floor tiles for Beneath Parrot Island last night. With the holidays I won't have as much time to build, so I'm a bit worried that I won't be able to wall in Parrot Isle. We'll just have to see.

Yes I'm running in Eberron, and the warforged are already bypassing several of the hazards because of their nature. So far one of them walked on the bottom of the bay to the Blue Nixie and the iron cobra's poison was completely wasted on them in the vault. I can't wait </sarcasm> for the Changeling to really bring her powers to bear.

I first read about Eberron and knew I had to run it, so I've been picking up books as they come out and waiting for the right opportunity. The STAP sounded like an Eberron adventure, so I went for it.

I'm actually also using Privateer Press' to add guns into the adventure as well.

I'm running mine in the Realms, mainly becuase we have all of the source books for it, and many have adventured there before.

I know a bit about the Warforged and think they are an intersting "race", but i think they will kind of negate one of the basic threats of the Savage Tide, the Warforged are immune to the Tide... The immunities they get really don't offset the penalties.

My groups is in the middle of next adventure, and the results of the "tide" have them very, very afraid, but the warforged can laugh it off...

though the next adventure the warforged might get the frieght in them. There are a few Metal eating creatures in it if you choose to run it that way (one is a given in the adventure, and the others are in side quests...)

Morgenes, I love playing Warforged, but if you're finding it too easy for the players as a result, throw in a Rust Monster or three.
