Industrial machinery is a good idea and would actually be very simple to design.

CNC Mill/Lathe
Robotic Arms
Conveyor systems
Welding bays
Surface Grinders
Rapid Prototype M/C
Injection Mould M/C
Hydraulic Presses
Laser Cutters

And regards the foundry equipment........... TheAuldGrump has it spot on!!

Blast Furnaces (for players to fall into or get splashed by)
Annealing Furnaces
Quenching Tanks (which can house all kinds of luvverly stuff, like Oil and Water)
Surface Hardening equipment (which sometimes can include the use of Cyanide!!!)

And in a slightly different direction:

How about assembly lines with all sorts of dangerous equipment and processes like we see in the movies and cartoons with the characters stuck on the conveyor and narrowly missing presses, cutters, flamethrowers etc etc........... sounds like the Robo Rally game!! LOL

I like the idea of BIG smokestacks (on the scale of the one that Bond drops Blofeld into in For Your Eyes Only) --or, for you 70s Spidey freaks (like me) the one into which Peter dumped the dead clone (yeah, the one that came back later...Yawn)

Sorry...dragging this back to the subject: I also like the deadly assembly line idea--ala Revenge of the Sith, with random "chompers", "stampers", "cutters", and of course FLAME JETS.

Also, what about the overhead system of large industrial buckets, claws, platforms, and hooks, moving the solids and liquids from place to place?

Large sheets of metal--steel, copper, etc. to be moved with above overhead system (and dropped on unsuspecting heroes, villains, zombies, terminators, etc.) from place to place.

Amen to Galaxy Quest--That's where I got the ideas of the FLAME JETS.

One of the greatest lines from that movie: THIS EPISODE WAS BADLY WRITTEN!!!
