Bought it a couple of weeks ago, and after a frenzied load of printing, t took about a week to build.

The board is double sided, with my Gothic Realms tiles on the reverse, plus it folds in half for easy storage.

Need to build the rampart top for the tower, but other than that it's finished.

Just needs to be played on now................

Have added the pics as links as they are quite large, but need to be to show stuff.

Don't tell anyone but it's not a WWG bridge I got it free from the Mageknight website.

Nowhere near the quality of WWG stuff, but useful anyhow.

Easily the BEST VW build I've seen....

Just want to echo the sentiments here. I'll be needing to pull together some VW for a future adventure, this helps me picture what is possible. Thanks for the tip on the free bridge.

Great layout and very clean builds you have there Bruenor. Just on the eye of criticisms (to help and not detract from the build in general) you need to start edging, Again this is a minor quibble that if you do next time round the build would be even more perfect.

I did edge as I went along, the only parts that I should have done but didn't was the board tiles and a couple of them show.
Where did you see the ones you are talking about, I'll need to go over them again, as my brown felt tip was running out during the build.

If it's the roof edges they really didn't look that bad before the pics, the flash really pics out anything that's light coloured.

I think Frank had the same problem, with the flash picking out bits too.

Cameras = evil

Nothing like a white dot the size of a roller ball pin head to show like the freaking Great Wall of China when shot with a camera. Even though it hardly stands out to the naked eye.

Though I suppose that attests to the quality of cameras these days.

Yeah, I know what you mean, bloody super powerful flashes.

I have the same problem when taking pics of my minis.

I liked how good a job you'd done with the edging too.

I did notice a couple of the roofs looked like they might benefit from a bit more edging - most noticeable in .
(NB: these only stand out because your build is to such a high standard - I'm going o have to work even harder at my own build now )

Yeah I see what you mean, I should really edge with black I guess, rather than the light brown I have been using.

It's surprised me how well it works edging with a pen that's darker than the surrounding material. My first build attempt was a couple of the VW hovels; I edged the roofs with a light brown pen similar to the roof colour and it looked pathetic; went back over the edges with dark brown and it looked much better, even though the edging lines stood out a bit - somehow this just seems to work better.

Righto, must raid my son's pencil case for a dark brown felt tip.......

We still play Herquest a lot, and I plan to introduce, my gamers to the village very soon.
We've modified the rules a 'little' to allow for character progression, and extra actions, to make it more interesting.

The workstation is a self build, and basically consists of a length of kitchen worksurface, bought from Wickes already precut, not quite as big as I wanted, but it worked out better in the end.
The front is held up by chrome poles, and is batoned to the wall with bits of 2" x 1" batons.
Easy peesy, and really effective, and cheap too, cost a third of a decent flatpack workstation.

Excellent build. It really makes me want to buy and build a village, even though I don't have a use for it. Once we get past the financial slump that housebuying causes, I might just give it a try.

On the issue of camera's showing up the light edges, I actually find this really useful for miniatures. I am terrible at painting, and get a bunch of pre-painted these days to save time (they are often better than my results anyway) but when I do paint minis, taking a photo often highlights places where I've completely missed bits. My eyesight isn't good for those tiny details.

Notice the missed bits of skin under the arms. Wouldn't have caught that without the flash
