When did you visit the Seattle Underground? I went there September 2005 and the way you describe it is pretty much what I saw. The tourguide said that they had opened more areas that they were previously not allowed to give tours through, and that they were continuing the try and expand. I tried to take photos down there, but nothing came out that captured the damp, smelly, dusty setting.

Man, I was robbed!

I took the tour back in the early 90s and it was not very interesting. Sure, you got to see that for some of the buildings, the "real" ground level was one level below the street now. It was kinda cool seeing marble building faces with all the ornate carving, yet the door was all bricked up, and that floor is now the basement.

But ht etour lasted maybe 45 minutes tops, and was mostly dull. Sounds like (a) Grump got a better unofficial tour, and (b) the official tour has improved.

Hey Arabin, did they still have that bit of furniture left over from an episode of The Night Stalker? They made a big deal of that on my tour, and I just about busted a gut laughing (I'm originally from Southern California and worked in a fancy country club where stars hung out. Here was this tour guide making a big deal out of prop furniture. Now if Darren McGavin had been there, THAT would have been cool. But the furniture?)

Hmm, I don't recall that in particular, but there were a bunch of tour guides and they all seemed of differing quality.

Sounds good... I would say you might get one for Christmas... but that's a little late now. There is always valentine's day coming up... you could get it as a joint, shared gift

Heh. I got a Boze sound system for our HDTV for Christmas, so I'm not going to push my luck there.


(And my wife also picked up HDMI cable for the TV, which almost outclasses the sound system. If you have HD but not one of these cables - they don't come with the TV - you must get one. The difference is amazing. Now I get what everyone was raving about with HD.)
