Well, Hallowe'en is not far away, so....

Olas Hernegauer spent his life building a solid reputation for his crematorium, by the time of his death in 1980 the facility was accepting bodies from across the province.

Upon his death his sons, under financial pressure, decided to sell the business to a consortium from the south. For the next decade the former Hernegauer Crematorium, renamed Mayhem Cremation Services, served its areas needs to the best of its abilities. The consortium sold it again in the early '90s, to a family company - Sawyer Funerary Necessities. They were neither as benign as old Hernegauer, nor as uninvolved as the consortium. Rather, they were something much, much worse. Because Olas Hernegauer had been concerned enough for his neighbor's sensibilities that he placed the facility downwind of Mayhem it was not noticed for quite some time that there was little, if any, smoke rising from the ovens of the crematorium. It was not until some of the bereaved relatives noticed something 'off' about the charred remains they had received in an ornate urn.

What investigators found, immediately before the forced closure of the crematorium, is something that will linger in their nightmares for as long as they live.... Only one member of the Sawyer family has so far been apprehended, a retarded and dwarfish man by the name of Sawney Sawyer Bean.

Everyone thought the "Mandatory Cremation Act of 2010" was to free up land for rich developers to get even richer. No one thought it odd that the National Guard was being used to dig up graves and cremate the remains....

It did strike some odd that shots and screams would be heard and that some cemeteries became walled fortresses, designed to keep something from getting out.....

Private Rodney Rodriguez knows different. He knows that if they don't get all the corpses' in time, whole cemeteries would come to life.

He had been in several battles already and he knew. He knew that it was only a matter of time before time ran out for the living.

CCotD'

Armaud's Theater of Shadows was a great novelty, magical lights casting sharp, clear shadows upon a silken screen. For the better part of a year the theater entertained Himmelveil residents with short comedies, and, upon holy days, stories of morality and the gods.

But Armaud wanted something more, something that might be remembered when the pupeteers were gone, and the orchestra silent. And so he had written a full three act play, done entirely with shadows, of the fall of one of the Great ones, not quite a god, but not that far below.

What happened that night is not known, no copies of the script remain, and Armaud has not been seen since, but of the seven surviving members of the audience none have cast shadows to this day....
