It's something that the adventure writing team might be able to do between adventures, as a little light relief. I definitely think the model set designers should be left alone (except when prodding for previews and releases *looks in CapNG's direction) to focus on what they do best. The real strength of WWG, IMO, is in their incredible models with supreme textures. The other items are nice, but not their main focus, and this is as it should be.

But well tought it won't be dificult...let's see... first set...the backpacks... you have a few backpacks (like tiles) with the "holes" in it.. and rings, swords/long sword... Rope... well the basic ones... each one with the ilustration and you can write in the back (or in a side) the properties (no need to make it D&D but something like weight and damage that can be used in any game) then the right size so it use as many holes as you put in the backpack - you can also put a counter for the weight increment at the base of the backpack to take account of the it (space and weight) - (like in a lot of RPG computers games do with the inventory...) and all you have to do now and then is an expansion with Weapons...Bottles of posions... Fruits...whatever money you want to make... Something visual to deal with the tedious backpack issue..

I have seen the item cards that are being talked about, and it is a very niffty idea, something i tried doing in a few games, before P did it. The ones mentioned look nice, but yes as hentzau mentions, the Random aspect isn't that great... However it is solved very easily, by doing a bit of what CCotD and Sacretis mention. doing it yourself.

I took some of the sample images that the company put up, blanked out the inside to just get borders and made my own cards of the items i wanted. Like a Rapier that was needed for a player, something not in their list, or a Great club, or a Hat of Disguise. The borders are very nice, and the borders are what i want so i can make my own cards specific to my game.

That is something WWG could do simpley and easily, make a series of empty cards front and back, with just kind of that style that er That P other company is doing.
Like make blank cards for each of the major items one finds in the game, a Border for Wonderous, for Weapons, Armor, Alchemical, Rings, Gems, etc. For fantasy. Even more modern looking borders for Modern games, with some new items like Tech Gear, and Sci-Fi ish ones for Sci fi games.

They could be done pretty easy because you are just making the out side and leaving the inside to the GM, wouldn't take a long time, and allow you to make them yourselves with out going into the trouble of making tons and tons of cards for every item in every game, or a whole line of things. You just sell the blank cards to allow the GM/DM to make what they want. I would gladdly shell out a few bucks to get the blank cards for a Sci-fi based game (the ones i made looked very very bad), but with the ones P put out, the borders are very nice, and the images i am finding to put in make them look really pretty good.

It also fits in with kind of the whole design mentality of WWG. Give you the tools to do what you want. You want 1 ship, fine, you want a fleet fine. WWG gives you the abilites for you to make what you want for your game, with the stock they provide.

You can squeeze about 9 cards on sheet of card stock make a few pages with differnet cards. maybe 9 whole cards on a page for Potions (ie a potion border), high turn over items, a page with Wands, Rods, Staffs (those borders) 3 each and the icon for each type. A page with 5 weapons, 4 Aromor etc.

Give me the borders and icons i will gladdy go find the pictures to fill in the card and print it out. My problem is getting a look for the borders a design of the card i can't make them come out myself with out looking like junk.

The pre-view images from the other place solved that a bit, and i made the cards i wanted for stuff they didn't have/make. If WWG came out with a product/ products where i could fill in the images for sci-fi, and modern, and rounded out the stuff missing from Fantasy i would buy it in a snap. And be very happy.

Just want to chime in with a +1 on this. While I think the 'other product' is neat, I'd like to be able to print as many as I want of a particular item and not need to buy multiple random boosters or packs of items and end up with bunches of items I don't really need. If WWG came out with a competing product I would definitely snatch it up ASAP.
