Well I have tons of ground tiles but I kitbashed every one of them.

I used photoshop to make them. I started with the Village Works and I did both scaling them up wich is fast but then you have to cut some of the grid off for it to fit on the paper, unless you have a plotter print then I'm insanely jelous!

You can use Adobe or Corel for the best results. Or make sure you have the latest Adobe Acrobat as that has some scaling options in it.

Or you can just build you own. The following picture I made using textures from Dungeon Siege 1

Now all my river and road sections I have made myself either using different textures found on the web or combining WWG textures with other textures.



The next best thing is to do what I do. BEG DENNY TO MAKE 1.5" COMPATABLE SETS!!!!

7" is nice as it takes up the most paper, but if you think of it 6" is better as most games have board sizes, 3'x3', or 8'x4' most everything is done in feet so 6" tiles with both 1" and 1.5" would be the best. They could even have both on the same tile, if they would layer their pdf's. Heck they could have 1", 1.5", Hex all on the same pdf, just turn a layer on or off.

I'm right now trying to figure our how to make the Harbor Master 1.5" compatible. Do I just add a 1.5" grid over the 1" square tiled floors? or do I blow the sucker up and have a HUGE building? Now if I make it normal size I still need to add 4" to it as it will not fit with my 6" tile templates. Or I could make a few 3" spacers as well.

If Denny does not mind I could kit bash a bunch of Village Works tiles by slowly replacing the 1" grid with textures then adding the 1.5" grid. If that is exceptable I'd be happy to add them as a kit bash.

@ Highland Piper - Those tiles from Dungeon Siege are pretty cool. I was asking on another thread if anyone knew how to extract the graphics from video games... perhaps you can help? I know Dungeon Siege came with an editor, so that might have made things easier, but I really want to get at the textures from the game , which can be found in bargain bins these days. Any ideas where to start?

Well it all depends on the programing of the game. Older games can be harder as you need to crack the programing format that they used. MechWarrior 4 is one of those. You can not extract the textures or 3D images until you have cracked the source code.

Just because the game comes with an editor (Like Dungeon Siege, MechWarrior 4) does not mean you can extract the textures. I use a third party converter to change the GAS files (named after Gas Powered Games) into dds or even straight to a psd file.

Many games automaticly have the textures in a dds (which Photoshop can convert) or even png and you just need to dig around and find which folder they are stored in.

Now the Elder Scroll games are the best for converting into paper models as the textures are not only great but come in High Resolution. Morrowind textures are 200-300 dpi, Dungeon Siege 72 dpi. I'm currently working on some of the Imperial buildings and towers for paper models.

Good stuff. It looks like I've uninstalled Dredd vs. Death at some point so I'll have to reinstall to check that out. However, I looked around at other games to see if they had DDS files, and indeed they do. Unfortunately, using Photoshop 7, I'm unable to open them still.

I was looking at Rogue Trooper and it has loads of DDS files, but upon opening and selecting Photoshop, I get a message saying it can't open the file as the file is not the right kind of document. Is there a plugin I need?

I don't have Photoshop - or any other tool for manipulating pictures, etc...and my artistic ability is roughly equivelant to that of a rock. The fact that I can cut (almost) straight lines on pre-printed sheets is quite an accomplishment. Glueing them into some semblence of buildings is an achievement beyond all expectations.

Operating under THOSE restrictions, I guess what I'm looking for is one of the following:

1: The possibility that WWG will reissue their 1" bases in a 1.5" format.
2: Some "far-more-talented-than-me" individual will kit-bash same and offer it up (for a modest fee, of course) in the kit-bash section.

I purchased all of the Fantasy sets that stated they were 1.5" compatible...only to find that the number of ground tiles available in 1.5 scale - or even gridless - was DRASTICALLY less than those offered in 1" scale. So, I'm looking for a way around that. While I love the Mayhem sets, the gridless roof tiles have saved me there (I regrid them by hand to kieep the 1.5" continuity from the bases so as NOT to have to create confusing movement/targeting rules).

Oh, as for rescaling...my printer must be one of the very first ever created...I cannot rescale anything.

As a last resort, I will have to build everything other than Mayhem sets in 1" scale (pardon me a second...I have to wipe tears away......ok, I'm much better now). I hesitate to do so as that will make it impossible to ever combine the two.

Ideas?

PS: As a LAST resort, I would consider acquiring Photoshop and begin the arduous task of teaching myself to be *gasp* creative...but I'm looking for alternatives of a less costly - and potentially fatal (from the aneurism I'm bound to develop) - nature.
