i started my first build last week....streets of mayhem...and im finally starting to get the hang of it. its probably not as pretty as others but its decent for my first time.

anyway, i started today around 10 a.m., and im just now stopping. i took some breaks of course, but ive probably worked for a good 8 hours today. i keep telling myself "just one more and then i'll quit" ha!

the only model ive had problems with so far is the subway entrances. the walls of the entrance are kinda fanning out...like maybe some warping going on. it was my first model that i did, so i couldve used too much glue, but is this a common problem with that particular model?

One thing you can do is dry fold it, and push it a little past the desired position. So fold the sides into place without glueing, and lean them in a little.

Then when you use a small amount of glue (to the very edges), just make sure you burnish thoroughly and leave the set.

I'm going downstairs to resume work on my tavern build, which has a lot of 10" long walls. I have a lot less anxiety about this stage now. Will post pics later.

So the double-sided adhesives work. I've looked at them a number of times at the craft store but haven't bought any yet. Maybe I'll have a go at it; those walls came out very nice.

Hmmmm...I've been using double sided tape, but I like those things your using, Epona. Now, with the tape, you don't get the stiffening like glue, but you also can't overglue or get glue everywhere, so its a good tradeoff, IMO.

well ive noticed that some of my models arent necessarily drying crooked per se, but while im glueing them im noticing they arent staying straight...like...while im holding down the tabs until dry. i dont know if its just my glue or what, but im using Craft Bond Glue and it seems to work well for the most part. i find that once i glue, if the model is messed up (for instance...one side higher in the air and off the ground so as to make the base wobbly), i end up just weighting it down with coins/stacking books around it, and letting it sit for a while. this i guess lets it dry in the position that i want. so basically, the glue is working well enough so that its not messing up my models terribly. i cant find the UHU stuff, so im stuck with what i have for now.

as for pics...ill try to take some later on, but i may just wait till i get everything put together then ill also have a play test next saturday and ill try to remember to take pics of that.
