Does anyone know where I can find a downloadable Hex Grid for Space Combat???

Preferred size of Hexes = 2"/5cm AF (from one flat side to the opposite).

Cheers, but I was looking more in terms of a space/stars background with hexes on top that someone may have already done, that I could print out and stick to matte-board for games.

If nothing like that exists, I suppose I could use your generator link to make the hexes the rough size, stick into a paint program, copy and paste the hexes to get more per page, and then invert the colours. Stars could then be added by using a toothbruch and flicking paint onto the paper......................................

1:100 is roughly equal to 15mm. The fighters are about 10m long, or 30 feet, at that scale.

Wormhole is 1:1577, so they're not exactly compatible in the same game. However, that doesn't stop me from swooshing my wing pair around my desk all the time...

Wormhole is also gridless, but that doesn't mean you can't play it on a gridded map.

If you wanted the melfighters to look proper next to 28mm, I think you'd print them at twice the size. This would probably mean you'd have to separate the parts to get them to fit on their own pages, and I think it'd probably be a four page build.

I know Monday Knight Productions make some good felt hex mats. I bought a 3x3 and a 6x4 myself for test wormhole games. (I got the gridless ones). They're between $20 and $40, but I think shipping to maylasia might make that a bit higher. Might turn out to be the same price as printing out 96 6x6 pages (6x4 feet) of mostly black ink though, if you're pricing out the cartridges.

There may be gaming mats for wormhole but they will not have hexes on them.

To be honest, Gridless is easily covered by using a piece of black cloth sprinkled with white/yellow etc from a flicking a thumb over paint-loaded toothbrush bristles, so maybe Gridless sheets aren't necessary.

Hex Grids (2" or 1.5" A/F) will be my preferred format for Mel's Spacecraft (printed 2 per page of A4, so about 66% scale) since I have some cool rules from another company (actually WW1 Air Combat rules I was playtesting for them before they ceased operations).

I'm kicking around getting a black cotton bed sheet, borrowing the multi-media projector from work and taping the sheet up to a wall, over some newspaper, and airbrushing it, using the projector to project an image on the sheet. This should set me back under $10 for a decent sheet (been a while since I went to the bedding department of the local K-Mart, so might be a bit highter). I can get paints for fabric at Michaels Crafts, and water them down enough to use the airbrush I got at OddLots for $7.95. If I want a grid, I go to Litko for the grid template of my choice (square, hex, solid lines, jut the points, or dots, etc. and size of spaces) and use the cloth marking pens that will give me the best coverage without overwhelming the rest of the images. Not planning on that grid, but that is how I think I would do one if I did. And, yes, I am a cheap son-of-a-gun when I need to be This should all cost less than a new cartridge for my printer this way. Grid template would add a bit, but still less than 2 cartridges total.

Guess I've been a miniatures player far too long. I use a tape measure for longer distances, but learned to measure my hand spread many years ago, and I can run a measurment using my hand for about 4 feet with less than an inch of error. Just spread your hand out and measure from thumb tip to pinky tip, then say, from thumb tip to middle finger tip, and for the small moves, measure index finger length and length to first nuckle. Using your hand like this, you can measure things off quickly and without dragging a tape around a bunch of minis. And, it keeps folks from mentally measuring in advance for a shot when some game systems dont let you do that.
