Have you tried Matt board? You know the stuff that artwork gets mounted on when framed.

My local art supplies has some sheeting that's the plastic equivalent of foamcore only a bit thinner and about 1/3 the price. I was thinking of using this instead of foamcore and it is a lot more robust - Real estate agents use this stuff for their 'for sale' signs here and it copes just fine with some pretty harsh weather and strong sunlight.

Might be worth trying as an alternative, punkrabbit.

Matte Board is $14 a sheet at Michaels... maybe I can deal with a little warping in my P-COM stuff, eh?

Try Hobby Lobby (if you have one), or another hobby shop if you don't. I seem to recall that Michael's only sells a high-grade matt board, and they even recommended I look elsewhere if I was going to cut it up and use it.

I agree with robby, find another craft shop. AC Moore has 1/8inch thick matboard for $5. It's a 30 in x 40 in sheet.
Now I just have to get the time to make some builds with it.
Alternately, Michael's also carries illustration board for $5 or so though the sheet size is smaller (20x30 IIRC). You can find it near the sketching supplies in a rack.
