Well, it seems I've answered my own question just by printing out a reduced page on normal paper: everything ends up too small. The door is only like 1/2" wide (or less)...

Well, in all practicality, it probly should be .5" wide.

Given that 1 square = 5' and 1 square is drawn at 1", then you can't have doors that are 1 square wide or you'd have a dungeon of 5' wide doors.

The door in my office is 3' wide. In the 1" scale, the door would be just under 5/8" wide (.6" actually or 4.8/8" ).

That's kind of the whole flaw in the thinking of scale. Most drawings and models are made to make things look proportionately correct to the size of the mini (thus doors are drawn to be bigger), and thus ignore the scale represented by the grid.

So it's that conflict of mini scale versus model scale that you'll always be fighting.
